	After working under an expired contract with the county since 2007, the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s (AOCDS) announced it its members today that they have reached a tentative contract agreement with the County of Orange. Details of the contract have not been announced and they will be presented to to the membership at three meetings on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. Voting will occur on January 20th.

	While our local districts are comprised of well intentioned, highly educated and reflective leaders who are doing their best to find resources to fill the budget shortfall, we are perplexed that some districts (60% state-wide) agreed to submit a “Memorandum Of Understanding†with the Governor’s Office to participate in California’s application for the federal Race to the Top (RTTT) competitive grant program.

	Yesterday I wrote about the letter I sent to the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees regarding a violation of the Brown Act. At that time the audio for the January 5th meeting had not been posted. There is definitely more impact when you hear the voices as opposed to reading the transcripts of these meetings. So much so, I took the time to combinethe audio with pictures of the people speaking to make it clear who said what.
