The California Teacher’s Association is now opposing the Race To The Top bills currently in the Assembly. The CTA-opposed SBX5 4 (Romero) has been split into two bills, SBX5 1 and SBX5 4. The amended version of SBX5 4 contains two of the most objectionable ideas developed in this special session on education: open enrollment and parent trigger.
After meeting with Governor Schwarzenegger today, Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor and Councilwoman Katrina Foley did not seem too optimistic about the chances of the Governor stopping the sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds.

It must be wonderful to ask for, and receive, unlimited funding to do with as you please without any oversight or control. I am reminded of Tammy Faye Bakker and her tearful pleas for money for the PTL ministry run by her and her husband Jim Bakker.
