Campaign Fire Drill in Santa Ana

October 18, 2010 7

My phone rang several times over the weekend when residents of Santa Ana called to report that fire trucks were driving around the city with signs promoting the campaigns of Mayor Miguel Pulido, Councilman Sal Tinajero, and Assemblyman Jose Solorio. The callers were upset that while the fire truck has no decals to identify the fire agency and appears to be decommissioned and no longer in service; the intent is clear to those neighbors just getting a quick look that on duty Santa Ana firefighters and a working fire unit is driving their neighborhoods in support of three local candidates for public office.

Seems everyone wants to stand in the spotlight with Loretta and Bill

October 14, 2010 10

Over the past several days it seems that every elected democrat is claiming that they, along with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), are inviting people to attend a rally in Santa Ana. In some cases, they are making it look like they are hosting, or co-hosting, the event. The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) sent out an email blast, announcing the rally, but they had the intellectual honesty not to claim it was their event.

Mayor Vs. Amezcua- Show Us The Money

October 7, 2010 10

Campaign finance statements came out yesterday for the Santa Ana city candidates, in which all of them turned it in except for Sal Tinajero, as my co-blogger pointed out. The one I was curious to check out was the Mayoral statements, primarily for Alfredo Amezcua and Miguel Pulido. You can review Pulido’s statement HERE and Amezcua’s statement HERE.

Santa Ana Council Special Closed Session Meeting – Yep they screwed up again with Brown Act Violation

September 28, 2010 2

Mayor Miguel Pulido called a Special Meeting of the Santa Ana City Council for Monday evening at 5 pm. The meeting started late, a little after 5:30 pm. While Mayor Pulido was in the building (at least five of us shook his hand at around 5 pm), he was no where in the conference room. I did look under the table just to be sure he wasn’t hiding. Also missing were Councilmembers Martinez and Mayor Pro Tem Alvarez.

Pulido and Kring Campaigning Together?

September 27, 2010 10

Pulido is allegedly the the endorsed candidate of the Democratic Party as decided by the party insiders who gush over Miguel more than a 14 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert. I think they should finally hold him accountable and call on Miguel to re-iterate his support for keeping the 34th SD in Democratic Party hands.

Santa Ana Council Video: We’re not the City of Bell

September 16, 2010 12

This is a heavily edited video of Santa Ana City Council member comments made at their September 7th meeting. It was this meeting where members Martinez and Tinajero voted improperly on a resolution to lower, and suspend for a year, soccer permit fees paid by adult leagues. Martinez and Tinajero each accepted $500 from a for-profit league that benefits from that reduction creating a conflict of interest making them unable to vote on the matter.
