Independence Day Library Event Ruined by One Bigot

For many years, the 4th of July has not had a formal celebration in Santa Ana, and I believe this was a great idea for Mr. Bella to put together. Many of the organizers were set to be honored last night before the City Council, but that was put to a stop after two Councilmembers, Claudia Alvarez and Sal Tinajero threatened to walk out. Some people may say, WHAT!, how unpatriotic is that for those two Councilmembers to walk out of a presentation honoring those who were honoring our country. Well, there is another side of the story…

Mauk’s Selective Reasoning: Only his managers should get raises

Norberto Santana, Jr. over at Voice of OC reports that County CEO Tom Mauk and the Orange County Attorneys’ Association are having a bit of a dust up over their deferred raises that Mauk ordered not be included in the 2010-2011 county budget approved last month. Last year, Mauk’s managers kept their deferred raises.

Rep. Loretta Sanchez Introduces New Federal Stalking Legislation

“Physical stalking, cyberstalking, and other acts of intimidation are serious crimes that deserve serious consequences,” said Rep. Sanchez. “Unfortunately, existing federal law doesn’t do enough to protect victims and empower prosecutors. My bill would do both by strengthening existing laws to ensure all forms of harassment are taken seriously in the eyes of the law.”
