When asked recently how he proposes to best serve the immediate needs of Anaheim residents, he responded, “Jobs, jobs, and jobs.” This, he said, would be his very first priority upon assuming office. Further, Leos intends to “stimulate business growth and the resort area.”
Keith has a killer ballot title in an expensive county-wide race. Street had the slates pretty much locked up — and if he arranges with the vendors to release them to Keith, then Mr. Rodenhuis will be in a pretty commanding position to at the very least make it into a run-off.
Revelation of his lack of truthiness could not have come at a more inopportune time for Mr. Nguyen. Despite being the sole Republican running for the non-partisan Clerk Recorder’s office, Hugh Nguyen failed to receive the endorsement of his own party. This week seems to have gotten off to a bad start for Hugh.
County supervisors on Tuesday unanimously voted to revoke Orange County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector Chriss Street’s authority to invest county funds. Supervisors said that while Street has done a good job as treasurer, the move was needed to prevent the public and investors from losing confidence in the county’s investment pool until Street’s term ends on Jan. 3, 2011.
In response to the brutal killings of Chelsea King and Amber Dubois in San Diego, California, Assemblymember Pedro Nava (D-Santa Barbara) has ‘fast tracked’ legislation, Assembly Bill 33, the “Rape – 1 Strike Law,†that will impose a mandatory 25 years to life in prison for the rape of a minor.
A small minority of Republicans has held the entire California budget process hostage year after year. Their ransom? They refuse to vote for the state budget until deals are made to eliminate environmental protections, decimate programs that help the poor and middle class, weaken worker safety, and rollback consumer protections.

We reported on Sunday March 14th that Hugh Nguyen is challenging incumbent Tom Daly for the Clerk-Recorder seat. Mr. Nguyen is a manager in the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. He has selected the designation of Assistant Orange County Clerk. Unfortunately for Nguyen, he may not be able to use that ballot designation.
