TheLiberalOC has learned that former Irvine Council member Tammy Kim has resigned her seat from the Democratic Party of Orange County’s Central Committee’s seat. She will be replaced in a special election by the DPOC Central Committee, following the organization’s bylaws for replacing Central Committee members.
In 2024, Kim invested in yard signs to promote her candidacy for the Central Committee — a function where many candidates for Party elections never spend a dime.
Kim is facing 11 criminal charges from OC District Attorney’s office which alleges she lied about her residence during the November 2024 election and illegally cast her vote then from an address she never lived at. The OCDA’s office says Kim perjured herself repeatedly by claiming residence in the city’s fifth district while she was actually living elsewhere in the city.
Kim pleaded not guilty at her arraignment last month. Her resignation from the Central Committee removes an attack point from the more aggressive OC GOP which has its own set of criminal behavior to consider with former Supervisor Andrew Do being sentenced to five years in federal prison.
