IRVINE, Calif. (May 12, 2025): The City of Irvine invites the community to attend the fourth annual Pride in Irvine event Thursday, May 22, 5–7 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center Piazza in honor of Harvey Milk Day and June Pride Month.
The event will feature the raising of the Progress Flag in front of City Hall as a symbol of support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Community members are invited to attend and take part in an evening of connection, education, and celebration.
Guests will have the opportunity to engage with local LGBTQIA+ organizations, enjoy refreshments and activities, and access valuable resources in a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
Harvey Milk Day, observed each year on May 22, honors the legacy of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in California. Milk served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and was a trailblazing advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights until his assassination in 1978. The day was officially recognized by the State of California in 2009.
The Progress Flag, which will fly at City Hall from May 22 through June 30, represents the diversity and intersectionality of LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide. Its display recognizes significant milestones in the movement for equality, including the anniversaries of the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision on June 26, 2015, which affirmed same-sex marriage as a constitutional right, and the start of the Stonewall riots on June 28, 1969, a pivotal moment in LGBTQIA+ history.
The Irvine Civic Center Piazza is located at 1 Civic Center Plaza in Irvine. Learn more about Pride in Irvine at cityofirvine.org/pride.

The internet has conviently memory holed the fact that Gay icon Harvey Milk had a sexual relationship with a 16 year old boy when he was 33. The left and the media have turned an ephebophiliac into a hero and a martyr.
The Mayor of Castro Street by Randy Shilts, a gay journalist and friend of Milk documents Milk’s relationship with Jack Galen McKinley, who was 16 when he met Milk. He displayed a predatory penchants for young boys with substance abuse issues.
Any attempt to state these facts is summarily pounced on and characterized as so much slander against a Christ like figure to progressives.
As I said, feel free to add a P to the end of your special interest group celebrating their perceived victimhood.
LGBTQIAP +++
The P, is for pedophiles.
By the way, he wasn’t “assasinated” and his murder had nothing to do with his sexual orientation. He was shot simply because he was an asshole.
