From Supervisor Katrina Foley’s Office:
The County Budget and Finance Office is seeking input that will shape the annual budget, the strategic financial planning process, and management of the County’s public debt programs.
Each year, the County of Orange develops a comprehensive budget the supports public safety, health and social services, infrastructure, and community development. The budget reflects strategic priorities identified by the Board of Supervisors and County leadership, and aligns with long-term financial planning efforts.
I encourage anyone living and working in our County, and especially in the Fifth District, to share your comments and questions on how the updated County budget can best reflect the needs of your family, your neighbors, and your business.

Supervisor Foley needs to remove illegal immigrants from the MediCal / Cal Optima rolls. Let’s start there, Supervisor Foley. Think of the resources that could be available to those who are law abiding citizens or legal immigrants.. think of the reduction in Emergency room wait times when you no longer are triaged behind 7 illegal families with the sniffles while you wait to be seen for a broken bone or don’t have to worry about bleeding out in the waiting room while an illegal immigrant is treated for a knee scrape
RWN’s comments reflect a mistaken belief that county Boards of Supervisors have the authority to set Medi-Cal eligibility and benefit level rules. As with so many things, Supervisors are powerless to make or change those rules. It is the State Legislature, with concurrence of the Governor, that exercises this authority including pursuit of federal waivers for such things as the legal status of eligible people..
