Tammy Kim’s District 5 Council Candidacy is in Trouble

Tammy Kim’s Thanksgiving at her District 3 Home

The Irvine City Council held a special meeting to review a lawsuit regarding a private investigator’s report about former council member Tammy Kim’s District 5 address to have her candidacy for the April 15 special election.  The public comments were brutal most calling for the council to disqualify Kim from the ballot.

TheLiberalOC has received a copy of the lawsuit with the Private Investigator’s report that include photos of Kim carrying groceries into her District 3 residence.  You can see it here: Tammy Kim PI report

To summarize:

  • Former Irvine City Council member, and former Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) Director, Tammy Kim has been accused of lying on her voter registration card in an attempt to get back on the Irvine City Council.
  • She used an address of a board member who sits on a non-profit organization, and resides in Irvine’s District 5.
  • Kim owns a condo in Irvine’s District 3, and has for years; she has publicly stated she holds no mortage on this property.
  • Prior to her losing the last election for Mayor, Tammy Kim moved into District 5 claiming her condo was broken into and she no longer felt safe, citing concerns for her safety over her position on the Israel-Hamas conflict
  • She used a District 5 address when she registered to vote in the last election.
  • Kim learned that her attempt to claim an address where she didn’t live, was exposed
  • Kim pulled her candidacy papers for Irvine’s Special Election in April, and then resubmitted them under another District 5 address.
  • Sources say that action has been taken on the issue and that action is not yet public.

Kim had a birthday fundraiser planned for this Thursday at the Pizza Press on Barranca which she has since postponed.  We have confirmed a report that District 2 council member William Go has removed Kim as his Finance Commissioner just twomonths into his first term.

The public council meeting was short.  All of the speakers called on the council to disqualify Kim from the ballot.  But, with an interesting twist, Council member Kathleen Treseder would interject after many of the speakers to call out that person’s association with Mayor Larry Agran.  For Treseder, who bolts from the dais if she perceives a physical threat against her, this is classic bullying.  I can remember the late William Fitzgerald verbally slandering and insulting female members of the Anaheim City Council, calling them “whores and sluts,” suggesting they’ve all had abortions,  Mayor Tom Tait, to his credit, verified the public microphone was sacred but he would admonish Fitzgerald for his speech.  Fitzgerald would later use anti-semitic and anti-gay slurs directed at the late councilman Jordan Brandman.  These “context” statements by Treseder are unsavory and unbecoming a council member who should just sit and listen to the public.

TheLiberalOC has reached out to Todd Spitzer’s office to ask if there is a OCDA investigation into this mess.

  1. It’s interesting that no one is questioning William Go’s residence as well as he previously claimed to be neighbors with former candidate Chomyn.
He was directed by Tammy to run in district 2, and was coached through the election by Tammy, who handed him every endorsement she was affiliated with by way of favors to those organizations. He bought his council seat with the $100,000 loan he gave to himself to show he is a “viable candidate”.

One should question how all these democrat leaders have been getting caught this year for this same crime, seems textbook for the party and seems that Tammy Kim and her protege Go, are in the same boat.

go probably fired her to save face from revealing his own crimes.
