TheLiberalOC received the following letter from Ken Park, President of the Korean American Association of Senior Citizens (KAASC) about a lawsuit he has filed against Charles Kim, the husband of Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) seeking reinstatement to a Housing  Board of Directors and accusing Kim of embezzling $3 million.

We have reached out to Young Kim’s campaign for comment and will run it when they get back to us.

Here’s the text of the letter (as the image won’t be very readable):

Official Statement from Ken Park, President of the Korean American Senior Citizen Association

October 15, 2024

As the sitting President of the Korean American Association of Senior Citizens (KAASC), I am announcing that on October 10, 2024, we filed a lawsuit against Republican Congresswoman (CA-40) Young Kim’s husband, Charles Kim, to restore KAASC’s rightful position on the board of directors for Arirang Housing, Inc., to gain critical access to the organization’s financial records and accounts, and to pursue the Kims to the fullest extent of the law for embezzling upwards of $3,000,000 during the after the development of the Arirang Apartment Building.

This lawsuit stems from thousands of pages of financial records and tax return documents I reviewed, uncovering millions of dollars in missing funds.  Due to the illegal and insidious manner in which Charles Kim transferred the Arirang Apartment Building to his sole control, with no regulatory board members from KAASC as legally required within our bylaws, I have considerable concern of financial management and embezzlement of at least $3,000,000.

Once our full legal access has been restored, we will have the necessary authority to conduct a complete and transparent audit of the financial records. This will allow us to determine the full extent of the discrepancies and to hold those responsible, including Republican Congressman (CA-40) Young Kim and her husband Charles Kim, accountable.

This is not just about financial accountability; it is about protecting seniors in our Korean community who rely on Arirang Housing for their wellbeing and security. We are fully committed to restoring trust in the management of Arirang and to ensuring that its resources are used for the benefit of the Korean American senior citizens it was created to serve.

This lawsuit is long overdue.  Republican Congresswoman (CA-40) Young Kim and her husband Charles Kim stole $3,000,000 from the Korean American senior citizen community.  I look forward to furthering the legal process and delivering accountability and justice for their years of corruption, deception, and theft.

I want to assure the community that we will not rest until the truth is uncovered and justice is served.  KAASC will continue to take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to justice and to recover our missing funds.

Ken Park, President, Korean American Association of Senior Citizens (KAASC)

KAASC is based in Los Angeles.
