JOSE TRINIDAD CASTANEDA BECOMES 1st CANDIDATE TO QUALIFY & WINS 1st PLACE ON BALLOT IN BUENA PARK

 

BUENA PARK, CA – Building off of supercharged momentum in the race to represent Buena Park City Council District 2, today Non-profit Board Director, City Council Policy Advisor, and Buena Park Commissioner Jose Trinidad Castaneda announced his success in becoming the first candidate to officially qualify for the November 8th election, as well as winning the 1st place position on the ballot.

Prior to the close of the filing period, the Orange County Registrar of Voters and Buena Park City Clerk’s Office confirmed that Jose Trinidad Castaneda had met every criteria to qualify on the ballot and certified him on the candidates list.

In a statement released after the final list had been published, Buena Park community leader Jose Trinidad Castaneda stated:

“I am humbled to earn the support of my fellow friends and neighbors here in our Buena Park community. I am especially grateful to all those who nominated me, my mom and dad for helping me recover from my third battle with COVID-19, my incredible team for helping me reach out to voters when I sprained my ankle, and to my abuelita chula – Mama Celia – who passed away after her 6th battle with cancer.”

Recently, Castaneda’s campaign received a tidal wave of endorsements from local government and education leaders. About Jose Trinidad Castaneda

Buena Park City Council candidate José Trinidad Castañeda is a public servant, community organizer, and policy advocate who has spent his career championing the needs of underserved communities across Orange County.

Jose and his family have deep ties to Buena Park, where his grandparents worked as farm workers after immigrating from Zacatecas & Mexico, MX during the U.S. Bracero Program. Jose was born in Anaheim, and grew up on the border of Fullerton and Buena Park. For over a decade, Jose spent every summer with family in the Flower Tract, attended the Buena Park Boys and Girls Club, and hosted nearly every family gathering at Boisseranc Park, including birthdays, Easter, Fourth of July, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and more. Jose attended mass every Sunday at St. Pius V & St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church for twenty years, and volunteered distributing food with United Across Borders Foundation at St. Philip Benizi and American Legion Post 354. Prior to moving from the Fullerton side of the Fullerton Airport to the Buena Park side less than 1 mile from where he grew up, Jose was an active member of the Community Emergency Response Team for five years, and helped seniors and families recover from heat-related illnesses during major heat waves.

In addition to his volunteer work, Jose is an accomplished community leader, having served on six (6) commissions, including his current role as Buena Park Representative and Chair of the OCPA Community Advisory Committee, and former roles as Buena Park Beautification-Environmental Commissioner, Fullerton Planning Commissioner, Fullerton Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Fullerton School District Personnel Commissioner, and South Coast AQMD Youth Leader Advisory Council Member.

Jose’s vision for a better Buena Park for our diverse families & businesses includes clear plans and policies that make Buena Park a strong leader in economic growth, attracting new businesses and jobs, safe neighborhoods with affordable housing, and a more connected city government throughout Buena Park. If elected, Jose Trinidad would be Buena Park’s first Latino, first Native American, and first LGBTQ elected official.
