About Jose Trinidad Castaneda
Buena Park City Council candidate José Trinidad Castañeda is a public servant, community organizer, and policy advocate who has spent his career championing the needs of underserved communities across Orange County.
Jose and his family have deep ties to Buena Park, where his grandparents worked as farm workers after immigrating from Zacatecas & Mexico, MX during the U.S. Bracero Program. Jose was born in Anaheim, and grew up on the border of Fullerton and Buena Park. For over a decade, Jose spent every summer with family in the Flower Tract, attended the Buena Park Boys and Girls Club, and hosted nearly every family gathering at Boisseranc Park, including birthdays, Easter, Fourth of July, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and more. Jose attended mass every Sunday at St. Pius V & St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church for twenty years, and volunteered distributing food with United Across Borders Foundation at St. Philip Benizi and American Legion Post 354. Prior to moving from the Fullerton side of the Fullerton Airport to the Buena Park side less than 1 mile from where he grew up, Jose was an active member of the Community Emergency Response Team for five years, and helped seniors and families recover from heat-related illnesses during major heat waves.
In addition to his volunteer work, Jose is an accomplished community leader, having served on six (6) commissions, including his current role as Buena Park Representative and Chair of the OCPA Community Advisory Committee, and former roles as Buena Park Beautification-Environmental Commissioner, Fullerton Planning Commissioner, Fullerton Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Fullerton School District Personnel Commissioner, and South Coast AQMD Youth Leader Advisory Council Member.
Jose’s vision for a better Buena Park for our diverse families & businesses includes clear plans and policies that make Buena Park a strong leader in economic growth, attracting new businesses and jobs, safe neighborhoods with affordable housing, and a more connected city government throughout Buena Park. If elected, Jose Trinidad would be Buena Park’s first Latino, first Native American, and first LGBTQ elected official. Jose Trinidad is committed to improving Buena Park for all residents as the best city to live, work, learn, and play. |
