Keep Cool This Weekend OC

It’s going to be a hot one this weekend and there’s a high chance of brown outs throughout the State of California.  Take a few minutes to check out your city’s government website that identifies places you can go to beat the heat.

Santa Ana has listed nine different locations offering air conditioning.  The Tustin Senior Center already had a line of people waiting to get in this morning.  If you know where to go in your city, please post in the comments section.

A heatwave in the summer in Southern California, is very similar to a blizzard in New England in the winter.  There’s a possibility of your power going out, it’s hard to get around, and there are neighbors to look out for to make sure they are safe and OK.

Check your flashlights and have fresh batteries on hand.  If there’s a power outrage, do not open your freezer (food will stay frozen for hours), night time temperatures will be cooler so open windows.  And do check on elderly neighbors to make sure they are OK.  Drink plenty of fluids.  And remember pets don’t have shoes so keep them inside and off any blacktop.  Check your car’s coolant to make sure you have enough and try to stay off the roads.

Have a great Labor Day weekend OC and stay cool.
