LaHabra voters have launched an effort to recall Mayor Tim Shaw, who is also running for 4th District Board of Supervisors. Residents are upset about a planned development on a Golf Course.
The OC Register reports 150 people attended the council meeting with yellow shirts that asked the council to “Save Westridge” and now they are face with the task of gathering enough signatures to place a recall on the ballot. Should he prevail as the GOP choice for Fourth District supervisor, Shaw could be a candidate fending off recall and running for a new job in the same election cycle. What does it say to voters in the 4th District when a candidate, endorsed by a majority of currently OC BoS members and the California Republican Assembly, may be tossed on his butt by voters in the city Shaw says “know him best”?
Shaw told the Register he didn’t think the recall will succeed; which is powerful motivation for those who want him gone citing overdevelopment in LaHabra.

Abuse of Recall. Shaw has committed no criminal acts and is involved in no scandal.
Then you’ll vote no against the Josh Newman recall?
Why don’t you tell us why Dems are saying it’s wrong to recall Newman because he isn’t involved in any scandal (!) and hasn’t committed any malfeasance in office. Shaw meets that lame threshold.
Newman is being targeted over a vote he took on a gas tax and because he narrowly won in 2016 making him most vulnerable.
Yes, and his defenders say he has done nothing illegal or immoral. A threshold Shaw can get over. Unless one happens to be a hypocritical party hack.
You can fail your constituents in lots of ways that don’t involve criminal acts or scandal. Haven’t we set the bar a little low if that’s the new standard? I wonder if the people recalling Shaw know that he took MAXED-OUT contributions from the very parties trying to get the golf course re-zoned? Isn’t this the guy that is posing himself as an “impartial judge” and doesn’t want to convict before the trial? What a poser! LAST STRAW SHAW!
