LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Continuing his unrelenting momentum, today technology entrepreneur and Democratic businessman Harley Rouda was endorsed by a powerhouse trio of Orange County Democratic Congressional Members, including Democratic House Vice Chair Linda Sanchez, along with U.S. Representatives Lou Correa and Alan Lowenthal. The endorsements follow recent news that former Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez also previously backed Rouda’s bid for the 48th Congressional District.
The trio each released statements following the game-changing endorsements:
“Harley Rouda represents the best choice to move California’s 48th Congressional District forward. I am endorsing Harley for Congress because I know he will work to protect and expand healthcare access, fight for increased funding for Planned Parenthood, and be an effective leader for the women and men of Orange County.”
— House Democratic Caucus Vice Chair and Congresswoman Linda Sanchez
“Harley Rouda is the real deal. He’s got a dynamic background as a technology and business entrepreneur and has proven himself as a leader who is dedicated to standing up and fighting for the working families of Orange County. I know he’ll work hard to strengthen and grow our middle class economy by investing more in job-training, infrastructure improvements and clean energy technology to protect our air and water, while creating local jobs at the same time. I’m pleased to endorse Harley Rouda for Congress.”
— Congressman Lou Correa
“Harley Rouda has the experience, skills and vision that we need to move Orange County forward. That’s why I’m proud to endorse his campaign for California’s 48th Congressional District. I am fully confident that Harley will be an effective and solutions-driven leader who will put Orange County’s working families first, from making higher education more accessible to promoting apprenticeships, and fighting to ensure that everyone has the healthcare coverage they need. I’m with Harley 100%.”
— Congressman Alan Lowenthal
Earlier this week, technology and business entrepreneur Harley Rouda’s campaign rolled out a new digital video ad in the race for California’s 48th Congressional District seat.
Beyond today’s announcement, Rouda has won both straw polls conducted by Indivisible Orange County 48. He’s also earned the endorsement of several organizations that represent working families, including the California Nurses Association (CNA), the National Nurses United, the United Steelworkers Los Angeles/Orange County Legislative Education Committee, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 441, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36, and United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA) Local 582 and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 12.
Key local leaders that have endorsed Rouda’s campaign include: Orange County’s past Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Orange County Democratic Party Chair Frank Barbaro (Ret.), Democratic Foundation Chair Dan Jacobson*, Congressman Pete McCloskey (Ret.), Laguna Beach Mayor Toni Iseman, Costa Mesa Mayor (Ret.) and City Council Member Katrina Foley, Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang (Ret.), California State Senator Henry Stern, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer (Ret.), Ocean View School District Board of Trustees President Gina Clayton-Tarvin, along with a myriad of others.

First and foremost, it is worth reminding everybody that Harley Rouda first registered as a Democrat on 2/6/17 (a few weeks before launching his congressional campaign).
When Hans Keirstead recently received the CDP endorsement, Mr. Rouda rejected the opinions of numerous elected delegates because they were party insiders. Now, he touts an endorsement from three party insiders. It is unclear to me how Mr. Rouda reconciles this seeming inconsistency.
In any event, I am very curious to see how much money Mr. Rouda donated to the re-election campaigns of Sanchez, Lowenthal, and Correa.
It’s also worth reminding everybody that Hans has never voted Democratic because he has NEVER VOTED.
It’s also worth reminding everybody that EVERY other candidate asked Hans and the delegates to provide no endorsement, not just Mr. Rouda.
Finally, it’s worth noting Mr. Rouda has the support of elected officials because he’s polling, fundraising, and debating better than Hans. Every. Single. Time.
Sorry you picked to back the wrong democratic candidate. It’s obvious he’s the wrong guy for the job — but I hope it’s obvious enough to you to wakeup and realize that.
This is a truly disturbing race for us here. Unfortunately the ladies of the OC Dems were offended when Rouda did not effectively kiss the rings of the delegates properly. Hans woo’ed them with tours of his lab, meals, and had an insider game of his own people as delegates and party officials. All this would not matter if Hans were not a TERRIBLE candidate who has ties to unsavory characters, has never voted or been politically active and considers the job beneath him. He is only interested in this position as a way to aggrandize himself. He frequently lies, has been associated with stem cell fraud, and made the mistake of saying we should be “tracking illegal aliens.” He is associated with the same dark characters as the Trump administration and was clearly chosen from above. The Dems blew it bigly! Now I have to decide whether to vote for a LOSER candidate or betray my party. Good job at screwing up the only election where we had an advantage going in Dems!
Note for the future. No, kissing the rings of delegates should not be the way to do business. Vet your candidates better. Bind your club members votes to the will of the people. Stop yelling at the grassroots and calling them troublemakers and listen to them. Do not allow your members to be paid by candidates or work for their campaigns. Do not just choose who has the best chance of bringing money into the coffers of the party.
Roger Hen-totally agree with you on all comments. Hans supporters alway bring up the falsehood that Harley is a Republican. He has not been a Republican in 18 years. He has voted for Democrats for years. Hans has not bothered to vote in any primaries, yet he calls himself a ‘lifetime Democrat” IMO, voting is one of our greatest freedoms Americans have and should be respected. Hans boasts that he has received one third of his donations from Republicans. So who is the Republican?
Go Harley, go! Clearly the best candidate for the district to take on Dana and #FlipItBlue. All other Dems need to drop out and endorse him!
