Hot off the press from the Loretta Sanchez for Senate campaign, a strong statement from someone who has a clue on how to vote on gun violence.  Has anyone seen a similar statement from AG Kamala Harris about this that didn’t include a fundraising pitch?

Here’s the press release:

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement after the Republican-led Senate blocked commonsense legislation addressing gun violence.

“It is unacceptable, that in the wake of the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, Senate Republicans consciously avoided taking responsible action on gun violence.  How many more people will die while Congress’s irresponsible inaction drags on?

“This defeat underscores the importance of commonsense gun legislation emerging from the House. Congress must find a way to work together to keep Americans safe because the status quo will only lead to more deadly incidents and innocent victims.

“Republicans and Democrats need to come together and pass meaningful bipartisan legislation that will actually prevent and reduce gun violence from terrorizing American communities.”
