Bao Claims the #2 Spot on the November Ballot for Congress in CD-46

We received the below message from the Bao Nguyen for Congress campaign on the results of the primary election which place the Mayor of Garden Grove in the second spot on the November Ballot for Congress in CD-46. Nguyen will square off against former State Senator Lou Correa who won the primary with 43% of the vote.

This historic OC congressional election pits two Democrats against each other and ensures that this Congressional seat stays Blue in November. Because there will be two Democrats on the Ballot, its is unlikely Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez will endorse either candidate for her seat.  For differentiation, Nguyen openly endorsed Bernie Sanders for president and Correa is a supporter of Hillary Clinton for president.

I’m going to make a statement tomorrow (Tuesday) morning letting everybody know that we’re officially going on to the general election. But before I do that, I wanted to send a quick thank you note for everything you’ve given and everything you’ve done for the campaign. I wouldn’t have made it this far without your generosity. A lot of people counted us out in the beginning, especially as more and more candidates entered the race. Even on election night, when only absentee votes had been counted, but nothing from the polls and no provisional ballots had yet been processed, people in the media and elsewhere were already declaring victory for a different candidate.  But we didn’t give up. We knew there were more ballots to be counted, so we made sure to send volunteers to the registrar and observe the ballot counting process to make sure every ballot had a fair shot at being counted. Every day, we climbed up in the vote count and narrowed the gap. Eventually, we passed up our opponent who had supposedly already won, and we haven’t looked back. But the fight isn’t over, and we’re facing an uphill battle against a much better funded opponent. If you’ve maxed out before, the limit has reset since this we’re now in a different election cycle. Can you help pitch in whatever you can for the general election?

Anyway, this is all just a very long way of saying thank you. I couldn’t have done this without you. Let’s give ’em hell in November. Bao

    • Well, since he supported Sanders he might do well. Sanders did 46.8 percent. Junior and company were incorrect to have pushed Trump for president since it caused Orange County and Ventura to moved to the left. The young in Orange County reacted against their more conservative parents and went for Sanders. Sanders gain another 5,000 votes yesterday, Clinton 3,000 and Trump another 2,000. There is a 60,000 gap between Republicans and Democrats for president in Orange County. This time favors the Dems but Sanders are kind of like Kasich’s and Cruz’s on the Republican side they may not vote for either Clinton or Trump.

  1. Well, so much for Garden Grove’s brief respite from cronyism and corruption, and say hello to Mayor Phat Bui, Janet’s new plaything.

  2. Vern, due to a quirk in California election law, since Bao is a November candidate for federal office, he can run for mayor as well. But if he does, what does that say to the Voters of CD-46 or that matter to the voters of Garden Grove.
