The results for the most hotly contested state races in the county include votes from multiple counties. It may be easiest to get your reports on these races from the Secretary of State website, which combines the votes for all races as the individual counties report them. There is however a bit of a delay in this process. So here are the links to the other registrar sites in our neighboring counties so you can add the votes tallies together yourself.
Los Angeles County
Riverside County
San Bernardino County
San Diego County
We do not plan on live blogging the election tonight. We plan to cover the election results in the coming days as they settle out.
Democrats don’t know how to use their most powerful weapon against Republicans is the minium wage hike. It passed in all the red states like Nebraska, Arkansas and so forth. The Republicans are screaming about it. In fact Anaheim could be more Democratic if their was a minium wage hike on the ballot. Tait might have lost if folks had the minium wage hike on the ballot in Anaheim. 11 per hour just like San Diego.
Another thing Democrats in the state need to loosen up zoning so more housing can be built. MOre apartments and mobile homes need to be built in the state. .There is no reason that OC that has the latinos and Asians should support Republicans to the point they do it should look more like the state of Colorado. races more purplish instead of Brown losing by 13 percent. The OC Register uses joel Konkin to hammer about the high cost of housing so loosen zoning in the state because the Republicans are not going to allow more section 8 housing. The oil boom help the Republicans nation wide and now they are in control they get rid of the export ban which will ease oil prices dropping a glut where thousands of jobs would have be lost in North Dakota would have hurt the Republicans but getting rid of the export ban means the oil jobs will continue. at a high pace. However, building the Keystone might glutten up the market for oil.
Cynthia, If you look at Irvine you will see the results of loosening up the building requirements and allowing high density construction. Heavy traffic, no parks or recreation areas for kids, crowded schools, it is all there. It was in fact done by the Democrats under the reign of Larry Agran, who tried to con the voters into believing he was a “No Growth” advocate. Some high density is acceptable as long as infastructure for supporting it is put in place first. In Irvine, with the exception of those projects already approved but not yet build, I suspect there will be a slowdown or halt of high density projects until the infastructure catches up.
I guess the Pastor Stephanie prayers helped keep Lorri out of Anaheim. Thank you Stephanie on behalf of all Taitbots! May be you can help us boot Jordan out the next time he is up for election!
Anaheim has to urbanized for the Dems to do better, its already bigger than Pittsburgh PA. Measure L passed which gives dems a little more chance in the city. A big transportation hub, Republicans don’t think that west Anaheim can be urbanized or genfity a little because of gang problems but Anaheim has really a murder rate low for a city over 300,000. San Diego is more purplish thanks to having an urban center in the city of San Diego.
“Let the ‘spin’….begin “!!
I previously wrote that Jose Solorio had no chance whatsoever in the 34th because he had alienated too many in his base. My previous prediction of a 5-6 point loss was apparantly rather optimistic on Solorio’s behalf. The Democratic Party of Orange County, and it’s chair, will have to carefully resssess itself and it’s bench. With the District Election measures passing in Anaheim, serious focus needs to take place. Unfortunately, Jordan Brandman aligned himself and went out of his way to endorse two republicans, Gail Eastman (bye-bye) and Kris Murray over the Democratic Party endorsed candidate, Dr. Jose Moreno. Brandman, violating an agreement brokered through Democratic Party Chair Henry Vandermier not to campaign against Dr. Moreno, showed Democratic Party leadership his word is not worth the air used to utter it. Brandman’s integrity was already in serious question after being caught plagiarizing a large section of a tax payer paid study he wrote on a no-bid contact from then county clerk-recorder Tom Daly while both were campaigning for their current seats. Brandman also is under fire for appointing an anti-immigrant, anti-latino activist to sit on the Citizens advisory committee to assess the need for district elections in Anaheim. With the redistricting measures passed, and with Brandman’s now septic reputation amongst Democratic leaders and the Latino community, look for a Jose Solorio-like Denoument to his political aspirations, and watch him line his pockets with Disney dollars on the way down.
The Democratic Party needs to wake up and see Brandman for the selfish puppet that he has become. He has sold his soul to Disney and Pringle and can care less for the Democratic values he claims to have. Oh sweet Jordan, Karma will come back to bite you in the behind for what you did to Diamond. You’re so proud of sending messages to labor groups from the Dias asking them to turn against him and remove him from leadership roles. Your turn to face the same fate for endorsing a Republican ticket.
Diamond has himself to blame. Brandman didn’t get 70% of the DPOC vote to oust Diamond; Diamond’s actions had more to do with that than anyone else
what does greg diamond have to do with anything?this is one of those rare occasions I completely agree with dan.
Look who Sacramento Bee had this published on their front page:

Come on Dan, I have been waiting for your big spin on the election of your Agranista BFF’s in Irvine. What excuse will you come up with? Will it be the conservative forces of darkness stole the election by pumping in more laundered money than did the Agranistas? Or could it be the false endorsements and biased mailers showing your candidates to be corrupt, high growth proponents? Or lastly, could it be because the conservatives slipped an intoxicant into the drinking water and all the voters were drunk? Moral of this story is Irvine voters are now educted and wise to the parlor tricks of Larry and the gang. They have seen good government and progress at the Great Park during the last two years and like all of us, want more of it. Please give Larry my best and I wish him well in his next career.
ouch ….. the truth can be painful at times …
I agree Pat, Irvine voters are educated….and then there are people like you. As far as “why the wait,” Wednesdays are heaving meeting days for me; I had five yesterday. Two contracts to review and sign. Do you think its OK for someone to have used a picture of their badge in campaign literature Pat?
Hi Dan –
It is okay to post under a pseudonym or do readers/posters have to post under their given name?
I believe that when you post under your own name, I take your comment more seriously. You can post under a pseudonym, and make a great points, but frankly you should stick with one. No arguing with yourself under two different names or worse, make it look like you’re in a happy agreement party, then I’d suggest counseling. Does that help?
