Martin Luther King, Jr. Killed 45 years ago in Memphis

Today in 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was fatally shot while standing on a balcony in Memphis. Forty-five years later, Reverend King’s last speech still resonates in American historical memory. Reverend King was a strong advocate for worker rights and was in Memphis to support the Sanitation Worker’s strike.

Hieu Nguyen picked to be the next Clerk-Recorder

At the end of a long day of interviews, the Board of Supervisors picked Hieu Nguyen, Daly’s challenger in 2010, for the Clerk-Recorder job. Nguyen, is currently a county employee of the Clerk of the Board office where he serves as manager of the files management and administration unit.

In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre said; “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun.” As a Liberal, fighting the right-wing insanity that is Orange County, I find myself agreeing with Mr. LaPierre.
