Santa Ana, CA – 4/2/2013 – The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) voted unanimously on a Resolution to support President Obama’s proposed gun legislation. Recent tragedies of unimaginable scale, including the mass shootings in Newtown Connecticut, Aurora, Colorado and Tucson, Arizona have acted as a catalyst for renewed efforts to reduce violence caused by, or related to, the use and ownership of firearms.
DPOC supports President Obama’s proposed, “gun control initiative” which seeks to better regulate guns and gun safety by banning private ownership of military-style assault weapons, limiting high capacity magazines, and requiring mandatory background checks for all gun sales. DPOC fully supports these initiatives as an important and necessary step towards limiting gun violence in our country’s schools and other public areas. As part of our commitment to make our voices heard on this issue, we encourage supporters to join the Orange County Mega Rally to Stop Gun Violence in Irvine on Thursday, April 4th at 5pm. This event is being sponsored by the Brady Campaign/Orange County Chapter, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and South County Citizens Against Gun Violence. The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) is the official organization for Democrats in the sixth largest county in the nation – fighting for equality for all Americans regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender identity or economic class. The DPOC works in conjunction with the California Democratic Party and Democratic National committee on various issues including: issue advocacy, voter registration, and supports candidates at the local, state, and national level. When the hell did it become proper to deny someone their enumerated Rights?
This entire exercise in trying to stop criminals from being violent, by denial of Rights to those who actually follow the law is INSANE!
How many firearms laws will it take before you will finally understand that you cannot stop violent criminals by creating new laws?
Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Don’t you understand that at all?
