Costa Mesa, California — Mayor Gary“Pinocchio” Monahan released a statement on Friday in which he characterized the pictures of him celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and posing for photos at his bar in Costa Mesa as the union taking despicable advantage of this tragic situation to further their agenda. Monahan continues, “Had I known what had transpired I would never have agreed to pose for photos or engage in any revelry.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Monahan is the Mayor. He was likely the first member of the City Council to be contacted by city CEO Tom Hatch. He knew, and went on with business as usual.

The mayor acknowledged the tragedy but said he “had a business to run” right after the pictures were taken. Yep, his business was posing for pictures and whooping it up. Remember, Monahan is the one who after talking to one reporter about the death of the employee, yelled “woo-hoo it’s St. Patrick’s Day!” Monahan is attempting to deflect scrutiny from his own bad behavior and the unjustified plan to outsource the entire city.
The only thing that is despicable here is Monahan.
