WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement of the unemployment rate declining to 8.9 percent, which is the lowest level since April 2009.  In addition, the economy added 192,000 private sector jobs. The unemployment rate has fallen nearly a full percentage point in the last three months, the most rapid improvement in nearly 28 years.

“While our work is far from over, today’s jobs report is further evidence that the policies put in place by my Democratic colleagues last Congress are helping to create jobs and revitalize our economy,” said Sanchez.  “Today’s report is good news for Orange County families, and I am happy to hear the economy is improving and our country is continuing on a positive path toward recovery.  I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress in the coming months to support policies that strengthen our economy and create jobs, especially as we consider the 2012 federal budget.”

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 47th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and parts of Fullerton in Orange County.  She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces and a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.
