In the fine spirit of John Campbell tweets, I’m pleased to report the latest fundraising numbers for the US Senate race in California.
Senator Barbara Boxer closed the quarter with $6.8 million (and some change) raised; she’s spent about $3 million and has $4.6 million on hand through her last reporting cycle of March 31, 2009. So her numbers are only going to get better.
State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore has an updated campaign finance report through June 30, 2009. Chuck has raised nearly $378,000 and has spent $302,266 of it leaving him about $75.6K cash on hand. On his website, we’re about 10 days away from the end of the month and Chuck is hoping to collect $35K for July. As if this writing, he’s at $10.7K.
Boxer collected $4.96 million in individual contributions while Chuck has a total of $370K in indivdual contributions since declaring for the Senate. And when Boxer files her Q2 report, her numbers are only going to point out how much more Californians prefer her to Chuck. Chuck’s candidacy is melting down like a poorly designed nuclear reactor.
Interstingly, or not. One of Devore’s pet projects (offshore drilling) was approved in the recent state budget.
My friends tell me this was a HUGE “ropeadope” into his crazy quest to unseat Boxer.
Her top dollar polling shows that Californians OVERWHELMINGLY oppose this especially in the highly republican GOP areas on the central coast (Save Santa Barbara).
This guy needs to focus on insurance commissioner or something. Senator DeVore….Yeah Right.
