On Sunday, the Harvey Milk Stonewall Democrats of Orange County will hold their first general membership meeting. Assemblyman Jose Solorio will be there to kick off the relaunch of Orange County’s 22 year old lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender democratic club. Formerly the Eleanor Roosevelt Democratic Club, MilkOC is a Democratic Club for the LGBT Community and their Allies.

Assemblyman Solorio was recently re-elected to represent the 69th Assembly district.  He is Chairman of the Public Safety committee, and a member of the Education, Transportation, and Appropriations committees.  His signature issues are preventing gang violence, improving our schools, creating new jobs, and enhancing California’s infrastructure. Solorio has been a strong supporter of LGBT civil rights and has voted in support of Marriage Equality in the Assembly.

In addition to Assemblyman Solorio kicking things off, the club will be approving new bylaws and discuss community plans for a response to the California Supreme Court ruling on Prop 8 when it comes down. The meeting will begin at 2:00pm, Sunday, March  29th at the Local 50 Union Hall, 527 S. Harbor Blvd in Anaheim. For more information about the Harvey Milk Stonewall Democrats of OC, visit their website at MilkOC.org.

In order to vote on the bylaws and participate in club decisions, you need to be a member in good standing. The cost is $25 a year and you can pay online at the club website or at the meeting. If you are not sure if you want to join, come by and see what the club is all about and decide then.
