Perhaps at long last we will see the end of Edgardo as a democratic operative.
The fact that you folks are celebrating a win by Janet Nguyen, a Republican, in a district that is overwhelmingly Democratic demonstrates to what a complete and utter failure the DPOC is. The fact that you are rejoicing a Republican victory in central Orange County speaks volumes to the ineptness of those at the helm of the DPOC.
The leaders of the DPOC have failed Democratic voters, labor and all others who want to see Democrats elected to office. Isn’t the main function of the party apparatus to find viable candidates to run for these seats and to then get those candidates elected? If so, they have failed.
Central OC is the only part of this county where Democrats have a stronghold and yet the party even managed to screw that up. Sure Lou and Loretta win there, but they win despite the party. Lou and Loretta have operations outside the party and depend very little on support from the party.
So live it and be happy knowing that the DPOC is responsible for a Republican getting elected in central OC. I keep hearing about what a “great” job the leaders of the DPOC a doing. Really? Where?
The reason for rising registration numbers is more a result of George W. Bush than it is the DPOC. If this is the type of leadership we can expect from the DPOC and the type of support we can expect from their friends, we might as well elect Scott Baugh to lead the party because those folks are doing a great job electing Reeps.
You have four years to now cultivate a Democratic candidate to run for the First District. But thankfully we most likely won’t have to rely on the DPOC to do that and Jose Solorio will step up and run. Jose, like Lou and Loretta, will likely succeed in spite of you all.
Congrats again of getting a Republican elected in a overwhelmingly Democratic district. You should all be so proud.

Sean — Janet won, but I am not celebrating. She is a textbook example of a politician who does things only to improve her prospects for the next office she seeks. I am glad that Dina lost because her candidacy and loss reflects directly on Van Tran and Mike Schroeder and shows the lack of influence that may claim to have.
I still don’t know what Hoa Van Tran stands for; and I wouldn’t put the blame solely on the DPOC. Student council races are run more effectively than Hoa Van Tran’s campaign. I for one hope Edgardo files a police report and goes through a lawsuit. Discovery cuts both ways. And these guys never seems to have their story or details straight.

So you are happy that a Reep is winning elections in a overwhelmingly Democratic district? You can take all the shots at me you want, but that still does not dismiss the fact that the DPOC blew this one.
If it makes you feel better when you attack me then so be it. That doesn’t excuse the fact that you and your buddies at the DPOC failed Democrats, labor, working men and women, seniors and the children of central Orange County by allowing the Reeps to walk in and take a seat that should be rightfully held by a Democrat.
The celebration is that the Democrats did not elect an unqualified and incomperent idiot to the Board of Supervisors. While for me Janet was a bad candidate to represent the views that progressives, liberals, and Democrats beileve in; she was far better than the other two choices.
I do not believe that Democrats should act like sheep and vote for a candidate based upon a D after their name or whose brother-in-law is running a campaign. The need to vote for the best of those on the ballot. Unfortunately, sometimes that may not be the Democrat.

The DPOC lost this seat during the last election and long before Hoa Van Tran ever got into the race. You are correct his campaign made mistakes, but it doesn’t help when many in the DPOC are your biggest enemies. With Dems like that, who needs Reeps?

The celebratory tone of a lot of Dems over Janet’s win is disturbing. Like Sean says (although he’s been a loonie the last few weeks) we have four years now to find a DECENT candidate.

No one is celebrating Janet’s win. Many are breathing a sigh of relief that the DPOC isn’t going to be saddled with an incompetent candidate with lots of baggage.
It would have been far worse for the DPOC if he had won. Think of the amount of money the unions would have had to spend to distance themselves from a candidate who didn’t protect his workers and “embraced” a criminal element in his campaign.
They may have backed Hoa at the end (NOTE: they did NOT endorse or put up any dough) for fear of damaging their rep in the Viet community, but just think about what it would have done to their rep with women in the county.
The Reeps would have used that against DEMS for every future race in the district. We should all be glad we dodged that bullet.

This whole 1st Supes/ Paul Lucas debacle has caused me to think a lot about the party and the relationship of Dems who have no ieda nor understanding as to what we are up against in the Central OC. A lot of letters and other false information has been passed around under the guise of “Helping Loretta or Lou.” Much of it has been false propaganda put out my interests who don’t really care about Loretta or Lou and are using their names as a way to move Dems to vote their way.
Don’t be fooled by this Trannie propaganda. If you want to help Lorreta or Lou talk to their people to find out the truth. Don’t believe some letter written by Kimchi , Edgardo, or Van Tran. They don’t have Loretta or Lou’s interest at hand. Kimchi and Edgardo are paid consultants who want to make money. Van Tran wants to defeat Loretta or Lou. So when Edgardo/Kimchi/ Paul Lucas/ or Van Tran or anyone claims they have Loretta’s or Lou’s best interests at hand don’t believe it because it is NOT TRUE.
As much as I love you West/ South/ North County Dems to speculate on things without knowing what is going on has been killing us Cenral County Dems. I suggest, no I urge you to talk to those in the know before you pontificate, vote in the Central Committee, or take any action that affects Loretta or Lou’s political future.
People that West/South/North County Dems ought talk to either work on Lou or Loretta’s CAMPAIGN staffs as they are in the know.

A Dem from another part of the county recently asked one of Loretta’s campaign people to tell them what was going on and to explain the situation before a crucial vote that could affect Loretta.
So instead of speculating or guessing what is in the interest of Loretta or Lou pick up the phone and ask. There are plenty of good Democrats who have been fighting this fight for a long time (like Lou and Loretta’s people) who know what the situation is and what the stakes are.
So don’t speculate or act in what you “think” is best for Loretta or Lou ask them first.

Sean and Vern are right. It is very embarrassing that the DPOC could not field a good candidate in this race. I blame Santa Ana Mayor MIguel Pulido. He has ruined all of the Dems on his Clowncil. That should be the DPOC’s farm team in this area. Instead they are a total joke.
As for Solorio, good luck taking out Supervisor Nguyen. What exactly has he accomplished? He has proven to be a lightweight in Sacramento. Janet will squish him four years hence. It won’t be close.

No one is happy about the circumstances of another term of Janet. But at the end of the day, this defeat and clusterf*@k of a campaign falls squarely of the shoulders of Hoa, and Hoa alone. I’m sorry, but Hoa was told about Reynoso, baggage and all, and was offered assistance by the DPOC in this election. Hoa refused and decided to put his trust in Reynoso, and this is what he got. Reynoso couldn’t run a high school student council campaign, never mind a candidate who is universally despised by her own party, HER OWN PARTY! Do you know fundamentally bad that is. Trust me, if he had listened to the DPOC in the beginning, he could of at least had a more respectable showing. But he felt that the wisdom and brain power of an alleged serial harrasser would save the day.
Should he of gotten the endorsement– maybe, maybe not. But Hoa would of lost this election even if he promised free booze and hookers…. But regardless, Hoa needs the to be a
