Following a 60 day self imposed leave of absence to deal with his federal criminal indictment, Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona will return to ‘active duty’ on Monday.
Undersheriff Galisky will continue to oversee day-to-day operations of the department, which she has done both during and prior to the Sheriff’s leave. Sheriff Carona will perform all his duties as elected Sheriff upon his return.
There is no word yet as to how long Carona intends to stay active. It has been speculated that he may return to leave status, shortly after his planned return.
We hope to have the department statement up on the site as soon as possible.
