Just when I think summer is coming to an end, all hell must break loose. Much of the county hit triple digit temperatures yesterday… Including the beach where I was at yesterday!! Power outages also hit some 11,000 OC households served by Southern California Edison and over 4,100 OC households served by San Diego Gas & Electric… And my house STILL has no electricity this morning! And today, it looks like we finally start to see a little relief.
So how have YOU been handling the extreme heat? Has your house been without power any time in the last 24 hours? Are you, like me, still waiting for the power to be turned back on? And how have you been managing the heat? Trips to the beach? Excursions to air conditioned indoor destinations?
Oh yes, and has this latest wild weather led you to think about other serious matters? Are you thinking that the more wild, extreme weather we experience, the more we’re seeing the climate crisis in action? Are you thinking about more ways we can conserve energy, so that we won’t have any more power outages in the future? Are you thinking about better ways for our communities to power themselves?
I want to hear how YOU have been surviving this insane weather, and all the nasty side effects that come with it. And yes, I also want to know if you have any ideas on what’s behind this wacky weather, and what we can do in the future to prevent electric system overloads and rolling blackouts. So please, take this chance to have your say.
Go ahead. Make my day. Fire away! 🙂
I’m just happy it’s cooled off. No A/C here, so lots of fans, lots of ice water, and sitting around in the shade…
