Rumores Smear- There is More to the Story!

STORY UPDATED – I previously posted on the smear by Alex Vega and Frank Ibarra on Alfredo Amezcua in Rumores. A little over a week ago, I decided to do a little research into their attack, and what I uncovered is much more sinister than some vicious political attack, but an organized effort to destroy a man’s career and his ability to provide for himself and his family.

Los Amigos to Seek Grand Jury Investigation

One week after the story broke on the smear campaign in Rumores newspaper, the common citizens of Los Amigos, a Latino advocacy group who meets at the Jaugerhaus every Wednesday morning, are seeking a Grand Jury investigation of longtime Santa ana Mayor Miguel Pulido. The want the Grand Jury to focus on the confilict of interest in regards to a recent article in the OC Weekly on Mayor Pulido’s alleged connections to the vending truck industry.

‘Start the Day for Students’ Day of Action

In a groundswell of protests against devastating budget cuts to neighborhood schools and other critical services, California’s teachers, administrators, school employees, parents and students will join a statewide “Day of Action” on Thursday, March 4, to stop the governor and Legislature from cutting billions more from a public school system already reeling from $17 billion in cuts over the past two years – and to tell lawmakers it’s time to close corporate tax loopholes.

Loretta: “Repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Now.”

“I wish we could just get this done and move on as many other militaries have,” Sanchez, D-Santa Ana, said at an Armed Services subcommittee meeting Wednesday afternoon. Sanchez said the U.S. should follow the lead of at least 20 countries in reworking its policy on allowing gays and Lesbians to serve openly. Canada, Great Britain, Australia and Israel are among those 20 nations.
