March 14, 2010 3

In the Fourth District Supervisor contest to fill the unexpired term of recently elected Assemblyman Chris Norby, we have a full field of six candidates, three Republicans, and three Democrats in this technically non-partisan contest. On the Democratic side we have Anaheim City Councilwoman Lorri Galloway, La Habra City Councilwoman Rose Espinoza, and Buena Park Mayor Art Brown. Dissecting the SAUSD

March 12, 2010 10

Once again, the SAUSD seeks to sugar coat the problem, claiming they have begun to implement some of the changes demanded by state and federal mandates. Here are some of the options they have in order to get some stimulus money to fix these schools: replace the principal, rehire no more than 50 percent of the staff and change the instructional program; close and reopen as a charter school; close and reassign students to other higher-achieving schools in the district; or replace the principal, increase instructional time and make other changes. Campbell and board Chairwoman Janet Nguyen are sponsoring an emergency agenda item that calls for transferring Street’s investment authority to county Chief Financial Officer Bob Franz. “We just don’t believe it’s proper to have someone found guilty in court of breaching his fiduciary duty to be responsible for managing the county’s investment funds,”

Go Speed Racer – R. Shawn Nelson for Supervisor

March 10, 2010 3

Shawn Nelson was cited on September 3, 2003, March 19, 2008, and March 23, 2009 for driving in excess of 65 miles per hour. I wonder if we should have a three strikes law that includes speeding. Go Speed, Go!
