I joined Chris Prevatt at the City Council meeting last night. What a different demeanor the Council had in regards to Public Comments. The Mayor was very lenient on the time frame to turn in speaker cards and this time they took the harsh criticism leveled at them. I spoke briefly on the item to remove Tish Leon, letting them know they were essentially listening to the words of Art Pedroza, a man who promoted sex between men and boys on websites he owned and Sean Mill, a man who has threatened to harm multiple Santa Ana residents(he once threatened to kick me in the teeth in an e-mail and threatened in a text to Phil Bacerra to send gang members to his house).
A complaint filed by TheLiberalOC publisher Chris Prevatt with the OC District Attorney over the Brown Act violation by Santa Ana Councilwoman Alvarez has bee turned over to the Attorney General for investigation.
After an inquiry of several weeks into employee allegations of criminal actions by Assessor Webster Guillory, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas today issued a report that cleared the assessor. The evidence adduced does not support probable cause…
Terry Francke, the Voice of OC’s consultant on government access, comments on the situation in Westminster over probable violations of the Brown Act. According to Francke, when three members of the Westminster City Council released a press statement… they violated the Brown Act
Unfortunately Chris Prevatt was unable to make it to the Santa Ana City Council meeting to give Claudia Alvarez a hard time. Fortunately I was able to step in and do one of my favorite pasttime activities, piss off Claudia Alvarez. It seems to have worked. To understand the events leading up to this, at the last Council meeting, Claudia Alvarez censored several speakers who tried to say her name claiming that interrupted the “decorum” of the meeting, but allowed two former Councilmembers to mention specific current Councilmembers by name. She clearly abused her power as acting Mayor and Chris Prevatt rightfully pointed it out on several posts here on The Liberal OC.
It is my hope to be at tonight’s meeting to comment on the failures of the Council to follow the intent of the Brown Act in their conduct of the public comment portion of their meetings. I hope to see you there. Feel free to EXPRESS YOURSELF to your elected officials. Just remember to be respectful, not use profanity, and they are going to have to at a minimum hear you out.
On or about March 29th a press statement drafted by Council member Tyler Diep, was released to the Vietnamese media on behalf of the three Vietnamese members of the City Council, Tyler Diep, Andy Quach, and Tri Ta in their official capacities. The statement clearly indicates that they have discussed the matter amongst themselves and reached several conclusions in concert.
