It’s Friday the 13th and is Jason back? Just checking. Here are some bits and pieces of stories I wish I had more time for. […]
None of these items are worthy of an entire blog post save the first one on the new districts in an exhaustive study by www.ardademographics.com. […]
On Saturday, U. S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis blazed a trail through the cities of Orange and Anaheim in support of organized labor candidates and Congresswoman Sanchez. Solis’ first stop was the Orange County Labor Federation’s lunch time rally at the IBEW Local 441 Union hall. Solis rallied the 475 volunteers on hand to continue their efforts for labor supportive candidates in Orange County.
A thank you to Councilmembers David Benavides and Vincent Sarmiento for helping solve constituent issues.
We’ve spent the past few days reviewing the financial reports of various candidates for office throughout Orange County. And something on Michelle Martinez, an unopposed […]
This last Sunday I was contacted by a person who was doing polling for political races. This one focused on Santa Ana, particularly the Mayor’s race. The person began by going over a list of names and organizations and wanted to know if I Approved (Strongly or Somewhat), Disapproved (Strongly or Somewhat) or No Opinion.
This is a heavily edited video of Santa Ana City Council member comments made at their September 7th meeting. It was this meeting where members Martinez and Tinajero voted improperly on a resolution to lower, and suspend for a year, soccer permit fees paid by adult leagues. Martinez and Tinajero each accepted $500 from a for-profit league that benefits from that reduction creating a conflict of interest making them unable to vote on the matter.
Councilman Tinajero approached OC Weekly investigative reporter R. Scott Moxley with his story of a conspiracy to split the Latino vote in his race. Like any great investigative reporter, Moxley took up the challenge and reported Tuesday evening on what he had found. One key thing that I noticed from Moxley’s story is that he allowed Tinajero to present his case, and the witnesses and documentation to support his case. What was missing from the piece was a clear indication of how any laws were allegedly broken. Moxley was careful to not draw any conclusions on his own and let the reader decide.
