Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security, on Tuesday praised the inclusion of two of her amendments in the base text of the Securing Maritime Activities through Risk-based Targeting for Port Security Act (SMART Port Act).

I just learned a little while ago that Judge Franz Miller ruled today against the City of Costa Mesa in their effort to force the OC Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley to place Righeimer’s Charter on the ballot in June. As outlined in his preliminary ruling released yesterday, Miller found that the City had not established any irreparable harm if the measure were delayed until the November election.

Assemblymember Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa), elected in 2010, has so far made a career out of demonizing workers and attacking workers’ rights. From collective bargaining to pensions, Mansoor never saw a cherished worker right he didn’t hate. Last year, he even took time to honor anti-union Midwest legislators, whom he calls “courageous” and with whom he stands “in solidarity.”

Monday was a bad day in court for the for the City of Costa Mesa in its effort to rush to the ballot Mayor Pro Tem Jim Righeimer’s City Charter Initiative.
