Another mail piece has dropped in the 69th Assembly race for Julio Perez. This one seems to be a name ID piece, designed to raise voter familiarity with a lesser known candidate.

Trung Ta, a prominent Democrat in Little Saigon and co-founder and co-chair for the National Committee for Vietnamese Americans for Obama, will participate in a White House briefing and reception to celebrate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) month on Wednesday May 9, 2012.

As Mitt Romney and his “Big Oil” allies continue to launch false and straw men attacks that have been repeatedly debunked by independent fact checkers, Obama for America today released a new ad titled “Swiss Bank Account” that highlights Mitt Romney’s belief that a strong economy is built on outsourcing, loopholes and risky financial deals.

On Sunday afternoon, a volunteer walking a precinct for the Orange County Labor Federation’s Dignity PAC on behalf of candidate Julio Perez was chased down and pushed to the ground by supporters of Councilwoman Michele Martinez. The volunteer received minor injuries and was forced to stop walking that precinct.

When I trekked out to Santa Ana on Saturday morning I planned on covering what had been billed as a recognition by the City of Santa Ana of the “Birthplace of the Vietnamese Community in Orange County” I didn’t expect to be attending a campaign rally.

Titled “Meet Julio Perez,” a mailer from Dignity PAC, an Independent Expenditure committee formed by organized labor organizations in Orange County to support Julio Perez for Assembly, was distributed last week to voters in the 69th Assembly district. This is the first mail, that we are aware of, in the race.
