Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is trying to follow Anthony Weiner’s example by announcing he will attempt to return to New York politics and run for New York City’s Comptroller. Spitzer resigned in 2008 after the public found out he spent a large amount of money on prostitutes.

On Friday, the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals removed the stay imposed on the decision of Judge Vaughn Walker declaring the ban on same sex marriage imposed by California’s Proposition 8 to be unconstitutional.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy turned down at midday Sunday a request to stop same-sex marriages from occurring in California. Without comment, and without seeking views from the other side, Kennedy rejected a plea that the Ninth Circuit Court did not have the authority to put into effect last Friday a federal judge’s order that allowed such marriages.
