As we enter the home stretch for the primary, I sat down with my ballot last night and decided Katie Porter is the candidate I want to be our next governor. She can consider this an endorsement from TheLiberalOC.
It’s high time California was led by a woman who is a fighter for all of us. She’s perhaps the only non-millionaire on the ballot of candidates and someone whose life mirrors many of its citizens. Katie pushes the grocery cart, she pays attention of which gas station she uses, she’s driving a beat up minivan and worries about how she’s going to send her kids to college. Her platform includes child chare coverage, affordable college through UC and CSU systems and free community college. Male candidates complain she “momsplains” to them which can’t be nearly as bad as “mansplaining.”
Yes, she’s demanding of her staff but she puts in the same hard work herself. I know plenty of men who are tougher on their teams than she is, but there’s never a discussion of their temperment.
I know not everyone will agree with me on this, but I’m hitching my wagon to her candidacy. Cast your ballot for Katie Porter.
