Los Angeles – A new Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics/The Hill poll published today shows Steve Garvey’s campaign for the US Senate continuing its momentum surge, earning first place among independent voters, the largest increase in support among the candidates since the previous January poll, and second place overall in the state’s monthlong primary election that ends on March 5.

Garvey earned the support of 23% of independent voters while Schiff followed with 22%.

The poll asked voters which candidate they trust to do the best job on a series of issues, regardless of which candidate they plan to vote for, and Garvey placed within the margin of error with Porter and Schiff on abortion, while consistentally in the top two on all other issues.

The poll also asked voters what issue was the most important to them. The top three issues are economy 27%, immigration 14%, and housing affordibility 14%. The bottom three issues are education 7%, threats to democracy 5%, and abortion 3%

“I’m deeply encouraged by the incredible support,” Garvey said. “This poll signals loud and clear that our message resonates. Californians are demanding common-sense solutions to tackle our most pressing issues—enough of the endless talk and inaction from career politicians.”

The final debate in the primary election among the top four candidates in the California US Senate race is tonight on NBC and Telemundo stations throughout California.

This morning, in our “Why do we even look at that blog” feature:

Why is Dan posting a Steve Garvey press release?

    https://theliberaloc.com/2024/02/20/new-poll-steve-garvey-continues-momentum-surge-in-ca-us-senate-race/

Maybe because it felt so good posting a Scott Baugh press release the other day.

Read the story Vern. Look at who did the survey: https://ktla.com/news/california-politics/schiff-garvey-california-senate-poll-feb/ It’s a legit poll from Emerson College and The Hill, not a poll Garvey commissioned. But the press release is how I found out about it.

    • Vern — you misread this response; you’re the one who wrote “Maybe because it felt so good posting a Scott Baugh press release the other day.”

This Emerson College survey has been carried by every major news outlet reporting on the US Senate race in California; if it was a Garvey-sponsored poll, I’d laugh about it. But just because a Garvey for Senate press release offered the link to the poll doesn’t make the findings inaccurate.

And you can let Greg know, I voted for Katie — twice. Adam’s book is way better than hers though.
