A new poll, conducted for Republican Scott Baugh in CA47, by WPA Intelligence, which shows Baugh in the lead at 27%, followed by Min at 22% and Weiss at 16%.
Now there’s no way to know what questions were asked and how the questions were asked, much like the Weiss poll that only present her in positive questions. But after voters were “informed” on candidate positions, Baugh soars to 30%, Min goes to 23%, Weiss loses ground to 14%, while Republican Max Ukropina advances from 9% to 10%.
‘The study notes the blast of negative ads on Min as having little effect. And notes Weiss dropped 2 percentage points; “this is not to imply the negative messaging helps the candidate, but that voters are aware of it and have made their decision on who to support regardless of such information.
Weiss is the beneficiary of IEs from EMILY’s List and AIPAC, the latter recently savaged byRep. Katie Porter for that PAC’s support of Rep. Adam Schiff for US Senate. Porter remains fully committed to Min’s campaign to take her place in Congress.
The poll was conducted on behalf of Baugh, so it’s interesting they’d highlight Min’s platform when Baugh’s camp wants to run against Weiss.
Weiss has been stuck in the mid-teens since before the EMILYS List and AIPAC ad buys.
If I was on the Board or either of those SuperPACs, I wouldn’t put it on my resume.
In the meantime, voters and supporters in CA47 have been seeing Dave Min almost everywhere this past weekend, including a house party in CDM with over 50 people and a canvassing event in Irvine with over 35 canvassers showing up to canvass for Dave, Josh Newman, and Dr. Nancy Watkins. And Joanna? Eerily quiet on one of the last crucial weekends before March 5th in which there’s a rumor that she took off skiing with her family.
Katrina is in Colorado too. I’ve also noticed all of Min’s Facebook ads are positive; all about his record and accomplishments. Facebook ads for Weiss are “Dave’s DUI.”
For theboys at the OJ blog, you wrote about this poll (https://www.orangejuiceblog.com/2023/11/min-cant-win-new-weiss-poll-and-joanna-answers-some-questions/) which, like the poll Baugh had commissioned BUT Joanna’s poll had five favorable questions about her and three negative questions about Min. I guess Baugh’s survey was like Weiss’s. Once I saw Carla Marnucci weigh in on this poll, I thought it was worthwhile.
