Former U.S. Secretary of Labor, Congressmember, and Current Supervisor Backs Cisneros
Covina, CA – Today, former Los Angeles County Congressman and Under Secretary of Defense Gil Cisneros, who is running for the open Congressional seat in California’s 31st District, announced the endorsement of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis. Solis’s Supervisorial district covers 72.7% of California’s 31st Congressional District.
Supervisor Solis has a long history of public service in the San Gabriel Valley, having represented the area in Congress, the California State Senate, and the California State Assembly. Supervisor Solis was also the United States Secretary of Labor under President Obama, from 2009 – 2013.
The endorsement comes on the heels of support from Hispanic Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ BOLD PAC, California Environmental Voters, SEIU California, Democrats Serve, the New Democratic Coalition Action Fund, Operating Engineers Local 12, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36.
Supervisor Solis issued the following quote in support of Cisneros: “I’ve represented the San Gabriel Valley in the House of Representatives and currently on the Board of Supervisors — and I was born and raised here. I strongly endorse Gil Cisneros to represent the 31st Congressional District, because as a public servant he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the people in our community, both as a Congressmember and as Under Secretary of Defense. He deeply understands the challenges faced by our communities and has dedicated his life to advocating for women’s rights, DREAMers, education access, and veterans. I support #GilontheHill because he has never compromised his values and his commitment to standing up for our working-class families over special interests.”

Gil Cisneros is the former Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, and the Military’s Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer. A former U.S. Naval Officer, Gil was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), the National Defense Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his exemplary service to his country.
From 2019 to 2021, Cisneros served as U.S. representative for Los Angeles County in California’s 39th Congressional District where he served on the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs committees.
This Gil Cisneros smear campaign continually flooding my mailboxes is a toxic non-solution to our goverment’s needs. Do not sacrifice any more time and wasted natural resources in this publishing/distributing manner. This election is not about sensationalism, nor requiring attempts at destroying reputations ~ rather than offering tangible result-oriented goals for our nation and its constituents to look forward to when they submit their election ballots.
