An interesting combination of endorsements for the upcoming primary emerged over the weekend for various races.
First off, Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan will host Rep. Barbara Lee on Saturday at an event in Irvine. An RSVP will net you the location and the event happens at 11AM. And it doesn’t lok like Rep. Katie Porter will get an endorsement from the Mayor of Porter’s adopted hometown this cycle even though Khan has not officially endorsed anyone for the US Senate race.
Former Congressman Harley Rouda has endorsed Joanna Weiss for Congress in CA-47, bypassing Dave Min. Republicans have been pinging me all week aksing in Min is dropping out because of his DUI arrest earlier this month and my response has been Min has fewer problems with his arrest record than Scott Baugh does (4 felonies….). That said, Weiss is getting a closer look by Demcoratic primary voters but its still anyone’s race.
Kim Bernice Ngyuen has secured the endorsement of Rep. Sarah Jacobs for CA-45, making Jacob’s the first member of Congress to back Nguyen. This support comes after back to back endorsements from the LA/OC Building and Construction Trades Council, State Senator Tom Umberg, Former State Assemblyman Tom Daly, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, Assemblyman Josh Lowenthal, United Association Local 250, and OC Supervisor Katrina Foley. And a reminder that Nguyen lives in the district. It seems every fundrasier Michelle Steel holds for CA-45 is on Newport Beach. And in fairness, if we ping Steel for not living in the district that should apply to Weiss as well, unless somethnig has changed in the last 60 days.
State Senator Josh Newman has been endorsed by Congressman Lou Correa for re-election. The OC Register, in a recent opinion piece suggesting Democratic candidates for Congress in OC look weak for 2024, suggested Rep. Young Kim was the only sure thing for 2024 and completely forgot about the man in Congress who represents two of the county’s largest cities in Congressman Correa who IS a sure thing fro 2024.
And, on the heels of that DUI arrest, State Senator Dave Min scores an endorsement of the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL), California’s largest local law enforcement association, representing over 9,200 police officers, and professionally sworn members of the LAPD. The Register’s Opinion Desk thinks little of this endorsement and suggests that “any Democrat supporting him has no integrity.” Perhaps writer Sal Rodriquez could look in the mirror at the integrity of Republican canddidates running for higher office who cast votes out of sync with the wishes of the voters here.

I wonder if Joanna and inminivanhell will talk about Vern in the bathroom?
Somebody should tip her off!
I saw Joanne this weekend at an event in HB, a great event for the special Olympics. She was DISGUSTED when she was told of Vern ‘s assement of foriegn born speakers as RETARDS.
Even Oscar Rodriguez distanced himself referring to the Nelson’s as unhinged.
