With Democrats Like Jung, Why Bother in Fullerton?

So Fulleron has a new Democratic city council member in Fred Jung.  Great! Right?

Not so much.

The Fullerton City Council is supposed to rotate the mayor’s seat which means this ceremonial position would fall to Ahmad Zahra. But instead, newly Democratically-elected Fred Jung nominated a Republican.

Here offered this statement:

Long before I was a Democrat or Republican, I was a Korean-American. Long before I was a conservative or progressive, I was a Fullertonian. And I expect to govern that way. The pandemic is devastating lives and livelihoods in our community. As you are well aware, there are serious issues that require action in Fullerton. I hope I can build a broad coalition to respond and move our city forward on behalf of all residents. I trust that explains my nomination accordingly.

Which makes Fred a shitty Democrat.  He objected to me using a profanity in our email chat.  He’s a crappy Democrat who sold out those who voted for him in Fullerton. He’s a failure before his term has even begun.

At this point, I have zero confidence Fred Jung will make votes Democrats care about.   And he lacks the sort of tough skin electeds possess.  Fred is a jerk  Democrats should not come to his aid as he won’t come to theirs.

    Do you even know the man? Your one, singular, “email” conversation with him. He simply nominated someone, votes could have fallen to Zahra. In recent history, this has been done by others. “The most recent example of this was in 2019 when Councilmember Zahra voted with Flory and Fitzgerald to appoint Flory, not Whitaker, as Mayor Pro Tem, even though Whitaker was ahead of her in line, although Flory argued that her prior service in office gave her seniority. It was because of ambiguity in the process that council approved the new resolution in October. It should also be noted that Whitaker also broke protocol at that December 3, 2019 meeting by not voting for Fitzgerald to be Mayor, who was next in line.” – from the Fullerton Observer.

    So get your story correct before you start badmouthing the man before you put up a stupid one sided story. Beware of the saying, “Fuck me? No, Fuck you!”

    • This drunken post was “cleaned up?” I’d hate to see it in its original form! It still says “Fred June,” and it still stupidly specifies the disputed position as “Mayor” when it was merely Mayor Pro Tem. Jeez, how bad was this post before?

      it’s a “ceremonial position,” and yet it’s such a big freaking deal to Dan that it proves Fred will never do anything good, and is shitty, crappy, a failure and a jerk. Anyone who follows Fullerton knows that this was Ahmad’s karma, for similarly passing over Whitaker two years ago to anoint the ACTUAL CRAPPY DEMOCRAT Jan Flory (and apparently Ahmad got Bruce’s OCWD seat as a reward.)

      And anyone who follows OC blogs at all remembers Dan being nothing but a drooling apologist for Farrah doing much worse on the Irvine Council – installing Mike Carroll ONTO THE COUNCIL was NOT a “ceremonial position.”

      Probably Dan just hates it that a Democrat supported by Bushala, Diamond, Cantor, and Vern Nelson triumphed. Fred Jung is going to be an independent Democrat with integrity that we can trust.

    P.S. Why don’t you answer the questions about you defending your new mayor for appointing a non-Democrat (and a crook) to the Irvine City Council? So pathetic.
