IRVINE, CA – In a reflection of her extensive support from Democratic activists, today Irvine City Councilmember Melissa Fox secured critical support from eligible delegates at the California Democratic Party’s Pre-Endorsement Conference, earning 72% of the vote from the 68th Assembly District Caucus and ensuring that her name will be considered for automatic endorsement at the upcoming CDP Convention. Any candidate who receives over 70% of the vote at the pre-endorsement conference is placed on the consent calendar at the California Democratic Convention for the party’s official endorsement.
Reflecting on the announced support, Fox remarked:

Last week, Fox earned the recommendation of the Orange County Labor Federation. The OC Labor Federation represents over 90 local unions and hundreds of thousands of working families in Orange County.
Recently, Fox’s campaign announced that she had outraised her opponent, Steven Choi, more than 2:1, with Fox’s campaign bringing in a significant $174,515, while Choi only raised $77,785.

A career-long attorney, Melissa Fox has served on the Irvine Council since 2016 after winning an at-large, citywide election. She also serves as a Director of the Orange County Fire Authority and previously served as Vice Chair of the Orange County Great Park. Melissa has been recognized for her dedication to fiscal responsibility by the Orange County Auditor-Controller with the “Orange County Taxpayer Watchdog Award.” Fox has also been honored for her dedication to children and families by earning the “Hero of Children Award” from the Child Abuse Protection Network.
Councilwoman Fox is the Founder and Senior Attorney at The Fox Firm, a civil law firm specializing in business law and public affairs. In addition, she serves as Southern Vice Chair of the Democratic Municipal Officials, California.

What I don’t understand is the left’s big interest in Orange County since the population has barely grown lately. It only grew 6,000 people in 2018. Riverside on the other hand grew 33,000. Its more likely due to the high cost of housing OC will start to lose population like LA did in the last census. Instead of going for slow growth counties, the two inland empire counties are growing a lot faster and have lots of minorities which tend to vote Democratic. OC has a lot of aging whites and doesn’t attract younger whites from other parts of the US like Riverside or San Diego does. The Dems could start losing Riverside which voted for John Cox in the last election if they put too much into aging Orange County.
