DFOC Honors State Controller Betty Yee

From the DFOC:

Friends, it is with great pleasure that we announce that California State Controller Betty Yee will be the honored guest at our upcoming mid-year dinner! Betty has worked tirelessly her entire career for California’s families. Betty has dedicated more than 35 years of her career to public service, while specializing in state and local finance and tax policy. As State Controller, Betty is a member of dozens of boards and commissions with authority ranging in everything from land management to crime victim compensation.

In addition, Betty is tasked with watching California’s money to ensure that it is being spent wisely and in the best interest of the people of California. As the state’s chief fiscal officer, Betty chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as member of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) Boards. These two boards alone have a combined portfolio of over $570 BILLION!  It’ cannot be overstated just how important Betty’s job is to California, and frankly, how important her job is to the rest of the Country if not the entire World. Considering how much Betty is tasked with and how truly vital she is to California, calling Betty a real-life superhero would be an understatement.

As many of you know, our mid-year event is an intimate dinner with a progressive icon. This year that dinner will be with California State Controller Betty Yee! This dinner is not a banquet where you’re seated at Table 10, and Ms. Yee is seated at Table 1. We’re all seated at the same long table, so that you actually have dinner and conversation with the honored guest – this year, the amazing Betty Yee.

Because of the intimacy of the dinner, seating is severely limited. So, please get your reservation into us soon. Also because at this dinner you will actually be eating and conversing with Ms. Yee, and because this dinner raises much-needed funds for the Foundation, the price is $1,100/plate. What you get for that, is to break bread with our honored guest – and you get a lifetime of memories of the evening that you spent with one of the most powerful women in California.
