Orange, Calif.—Marking a powerful new indicator of Democratic activism in Orange County, the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) today announces it will release its largest slate of endorsed Democratic candidates in recent history.
Nearly twice as many Democrats are seeking endorsement for local Orange County races this year compared to the 2016 Presidential election cycle just two years ago.
More than half of candidates in DPOC’s first round of endorsements are women. This is a significant increase over national averages: only 20% of local offices in the U.S. are currently occupied by women, according to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University (http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/current-numbers).
The diversity of candidates extends even further: a whopping 75% of candidates in DPOC’s first round of endorsements are either a woman, a person of color, LGBT, or under the age of 40.
This marks a huge accomplishment for DPOC in its work to build a bench of local elected officials, and is yet another indicator of a trending “blue wave” in the November 2018 Midterms in Orange County.
“Momentum is growing in our neighborhoods at the local level,” said Fran Sdao, Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County. “Our endorsed candidates have the energy and ideas to care for Orange County’s future. Our candidates talk with neighbors to create better solutions for housing, safety, jobs and more.”
This news emerges as DPOC releases its first of two waves of endorsements. The second endorsement slate of city council, school district and water district candidates will be voted upon at the next regular Democratic Party of Orange County Central Committee meeting on Monday, August 27th.

About The Democratic Party of Orange County
The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) is the official Democratic Party organization representing over half a million registered Democratic voters in Orange County, California, the nation’s sixth-largest county.
The voter gap in Orange County dropped from 22% in 1990 to just 2.6% in 2018, and is still closing. In 2016, Orange County voters chose a Democrat for President for the first time since 1936, and put four Orange County-based US House seats into play in national efforts to retake the House in 2018. To volunteer or donate to elect strong Democrats, visit DPOC at www.ocdemocrats.org, email us at info@ocdemocrats.org, or call (714) 634-DEMS.
How sad to see Young Kim exploiting “progressive” Greg Diamond in her fight against Gil Cisneros, by quoting Diamond attacking Gil for sexual misconduct. What an A Hole. Gregg Fritchell should kick Diamonds ass too
I laughed at the email address you used to post…..and it doesn’t match the IP address I have on file for the firm. Pick a different email next time and don’t forget to add “Scott” as a middle name
Take “Mr. Horner’s” defamatory post down, proprietor, lest the unsuspecting believe it.
I never attacked Cisneros for sexual misconduct. Former AD-55 candidate Melissa Fazli did so — while I asked for information about her story and then came to the conclusion that her story about his supposedly hitting on her had a much more straightforward and benign explanation that she could not rule out. (Fritchell actually *defended* her accusations., and we tussled over that.)
I supported Jay Chen and then Andy Thorburn in the primary; despite that I not only did not attack Gil, but in fact *defended* him in the face of what looked like an ill-founded attack.
If anyone actually does hear about Young Kim trying to use my story on the Fazli accusations (which I can’t find any online record of happening) please let me know — I’d be more than happy to set the record straight.
Right now, I’m getting online ads (static and YouTube) and accusing Gil of “investing in companies that do business in Iran, which brags about killing Americans” and something highly unspecific about some other wrongdoing by either him or companies that he’s invested in — so it’s clear that they’re being both active and unscrupulous right now. It’s a pity that the disinformation campaign extends to this blog — by someone who apparently knows exactly how to appeal to the proprietor’s heart. Hopefully, he’ll take the attack down to defend Gil, even if not the truth.
Your blog post on the story gave it air. Young Kim doesn’t have to do something online to make a reference to your May 4 post. I suggest you re-read it again because you’re all over the place here. http://www.orangejuiceblog.com/2018/05/ca-39-ad-55-fazli-blasts-cisneros-for-alleged-sexual-overture/ The online ads you’re getting are a result of your own search activity; that’s how these ad platforms work. What exactly are you looking for?
Lastly, commenters are responsible for their comments. I understand you want to be the sole person who decides which comments run and which ones don’t. But free speech doesn’t work that way. My understanding is the Kim campaign is referencing your post to attack Gil in a word-of-mouth way.
Note to Greg. Got a text message this morning suggesting I see your weekend open thread dated Sept 1. To make this clear, you’re on moderation. I decide if your comments here see the light of day. And if they do, I do not edit them.
I see your takedown notice had a date/time stamp of roughly 4pm Saturday afternoon. I was in the Rose Bowl with family and friends for the UCLA home opener. Good seats too. After the fireworks show, we had a wonderful dinner at a Sushi place in Pasadena. Got home late.
Saw my email notification you commented Sunday morning. Read it. Approved it. Replied to it. Went to the King Tut exhibit at the California Science Center Sunday afternoon. Took some great photos (without flash). A nice family dinner at Church & State off 7th and home by eight.
Today’s my wedding anniversary. A significant one at that. And I’m directed to your post where you’re whining like a child who didn’t get his way. I’m terribly not sorry that I have more things to do than sit home all day and blog. I’m not sorry it took me 19 hours to get to your complaint. You know what? Go and screw yourself. Perhaps you ought to ask Michael Fox about John Scott Horner III because neither he nor his wife have said a word about it. One would think “stolen valor” off a troll claiming to be a retired military dentist might make you outraged. But you’d rather go after actual veterans like Ed Pope and Larry Agran.
Enjoy the rest of Labor Day sitting at your out of date laptop demanding people heel to your will. I’m going to ignore you for the rest of the day. It’s not exactly a hard thing to do.
Wow, you seem to value paltry, low-bourgeois conspicuous consumption.
Bragging about going to a football game and eating sushi in Pasadena? That’s funny enough, but King Tut? That’s hilarious.
I can imagine how you decorate your house.
It’s my anniversary weekend. I like football. I had udon as I prefer my fish cooked. King Tut exhibit was amazing; saw a disappointing one years ago and this surpassed my expectations. The house is decorated nicely, thanks for asking. We just remodeled the kitchen and family room a year ago. I’m happy with how it came out. We spent the afternoon at the beach. Hope that’s ok with you
“The house is decorated nicely,”
Nice? King Tut museum prints, Panda bears and Kincaid cottages?
Aw shucks.
I’m sure it’s much nicer than the heavy metal posters in the childhood bedroom in which you still reside. I have no Egyptian themed art or decorations, nor any Kincaids, thanks for asking. But I do have art of Greg Diamond as “Pandaman” which you can find here if you look hard enough. Pandas eat 11-1/2 hours a day, sleep 12 hours a day and defecate about 40 times a day with little interest in reproduction
You truly are funny. I’m sorry that I ever doubted you. But seriously, wouldn’t you have guessed that he’d have been more likely to check out an exhibit from some other Batman villain, like Mr. Freeze?
Even more evidence that you don’t know me at all. And why you’re on moderation. You take a screen shot of ever comment you make? That’s pathetic.
Since you brought it up, King Tut was a villain created exclusively for the 1960s campy TV series. The character made it to the comics pages in 2009 in a forgettable “Batman Confidential” title and was renamed “Pharoh” for a TV cartoon series “The Brave and the Bold” using the name “Victor Goodman” which was a hat-tip to actor Victor Buono who played Tut in the TV series. And there was a short exhibit about King Tut in popular culture referencing Johnny Carson, Steve Martin, the Batman series, Cher, and Madonna…the Bangles didn’t make the cut.
For the first time ever, the moderation screen didn’t come up when I made that other post, meaning that I couldn’t take a screen shot (as I usually do in case you decide not to publish what I’ve written.) I had no reason to think that you had received it. That’s why I presumed — and frankly still presume — that you had moved me from moderation to an outright ban.
I guess I’ll see whether this one shows up ,,, whether your high tech is broken.
Don’t have a stroke Greg
Thanks, Anon. Don’t get syphilis.
We remain amazed at Greg Diamonds utter lack of self-awareness in.and around the DPOC.
Really dude, a little constructive effort would go a LONG LONG WAY. At every turn Diamond and his colleagues are trying to “outsmart” everyone, sometimes it seems, he does so just to show that he can.
The reality is, as you just pointed out, most of have REAL LIVES outside party politics, blogging and delusional conspiracy theories. Not Greg and company, who can turn a dirty diaper incident into a partisan political battle.
Young Kim and Ling Ling Chang must LOVE Greg, all he ever does is deliver them (otherwise Democratic) votes.
BTW, I notice The Mike Fox/Pantone Frank cabal is all silent on the swirling controversy in Santa Ana.
“I’m sure it’s much nicer than the heavy metal posters in the childhood bedroom in which you still reside.”
Haha! Says the Big Winner pretending to be an expert on…comic books!
I’ve been buying and reading comics since I was 9 and have quite the collection; given how hard it is to get ComicCon tickets and the success of super-hero themed movies and TV shows, I make no apologies for this hobby. Let me know if you need “Infinity Wars” explained to you
And now you are what, twelve?
Must be gratifying to know that you are still right in line with the pre-teen movie demographic.
That probably explains your affinity with some of your foul-mouthed commenters.
Hopefully you’ll grow out of it when you hit high school.
actually I have several titles in my collection worth thousands of dollars. Netflix and the CW Network have tons of shows. It’s part of the today’s Pop culture. From your belittlement of museums, art and motion pictures, perhaps you’re the one who needs to grow up. And I include you among the foul-mouthed commenters. Enjoy your mother’s meatloaf tonight.
Please reproduce a single instance when I used a profanity. Calling your sewer a sewer isn’t “foul mouthed.” I won’t be waiting.
A collection of comic books? Ha! I knew it. You remind me of the lonely comic book guy on the Simpsons who is too fat to tuck in his shirt. “That is Radioactive Man number one.”*
*pop culture reference.
Now that’s just plain FALSE. Vern Nelson was 52 years old when he moved out of his parents Huntington Beach home and shacked up with the grieving Mother in an Anaheim Barrio. Not for me to judge if this a step up.
I will say the last time there was this much silence from Vern he was in jail and then a six month stint in Salvation Army rehab. Indications are he has “slipped” back to the old Vern. Maybe some should check the OC Sherriff “Who’s In Jail” site.
I see “Vasquez” is up to his old tricks. Ten minutes before writing this he commented on the OJ blog, falsely, that my mom had just died and that my “sister in San Diego” was really worried about me.
That IP address was 156.39.10.47 … I wonder if this guy has the same?
I don’t reveal IP addresses Vern. Especially when your blog publishes comments people think are from me
I wasn’t asking dummy. I was just saying I bet it’s the same jackass. Both making fun of my sickly mom within ten minutes of each other.
So When EXACTLY was your last drink of alcohol Mr. Nelson?
Don’t LIE.
You never seem to own up. Isn’t’t that one of your steps? Have you called Lorri?
I don’t care about your sickly mom. Is she a drunk like you?
Congratulations, Dan.
You’re officially a contemptible piece of shit.
I bet your daughter celebrates her heritage daily.
My daughter would kick your anonymous butt. I don’t care what you think either.
“My daughter would kick your anonymous butt.”
That is a profoundly bizarre thing to write. I suggest you take some time for some much needed self-reflection.
No, my daughter is independent, smart and strong willed with a great sense of social justice. She’s tough as nails. She doesn’t tolerate cowards. I’m immensely proud of her.
“That IP address was 156.39.10.47 … I wonder if this guy has the same?” that sure looks like your asking a question to me…dummy. The question mark is a big tip off. And I ‘m pretty sure you are the only one who brought up your “sickly mom” on this thread. Buck up Vern. I get insulted here all the time — always from some anonymous coward. I don’t really care.
Someone ask Vern and Greg how much $ they have in their 401k.
I guess Donna doesn’t mind his rotting teeth
The DPOC is a small group of political consultants who bill clients for time spent on policies that befenit clients. Cowardly assholes. Fran won’t do her job
