Laguna Beach, CA — EMILY’s List today announced their endorsement of Cottie Petrie-Norris for the California State Assembly, AD74. Support from the prominent Political Action Committee is one of the most sought after endorsements in all of politics.

“Cottie Petrie-Norris is a San Diego native, daughter of a union member, and a proud product of California public schools who has had a successful career in finance and marketing. She is a community and business leader who has what it takes to solve the tough problems that her community faces,” said Geri Prado, senior director of state and local campaigns at EMILY’s List. “EMILY’s List is excited to support Cottie in her campaign for the California State Assembly.”

Emily’s List joins a  number of other prominent organizations backing Cottie Petrie-Norris for State Assembly, including:  The California Democratic Party, The Sierra Club,  Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties, Moms Demand Action, OCEA (Orange County Employees Association), the California Labor Federation, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California and the Los Angeles & Orange Counties Building & Construction Trades Council and the United Domestic Workers of America (UDW/AFSCME Local 3930).

Key elected officials who have endorsed Cottie’s campaign include: Speaker of the Assembly Anthony Rendon, State Senator Josh Newman, State Assembly Members Sharon Quirk-Silva, Laura Friedman, Jacqui Irwin and Tom Daly, Costa Mesa City Council Members Katrina Foley and John Stephens, Irvine Mayor Beth Krom (Ret.), Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang (Ret.), Laguna Beach City Councilmember Toni Iseman, and Ocean View School District Trustee Gina Clayton-Tarvin.


Democrat Cottie Petrie-Norris is a business and community leader from Laguna Beach. She earned her bachelor’s from Yale University before starting a career in career and finance where she helped build startups and established new business units for Fortune 500 companies. She is an active Democrat on the board of the Laguna Beach Democratic Club, the Laguna Beach City Housing and Human Services Committee, and an Assembly District Delegate for the California Democratic Party.

Cottie is running for Assembly in the 74th district against Assemblymember Matt Harper. The district comprises of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, and Newport Beach. She lives with her husband Colin, two sons Dylan and Hayden, and rescue dog Flounder in Laguna Beach.
