Costa Mesa City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem Allan Mansoor was served with legal papers alleging he was not a resident of Costa Mesa for several months in 2017. When an elected official resides outside the city they are elected to serve, their position immediately becomes vacant.

This video shows Mayor Pro Tem Allan Mansoor being served with documents alleging that he was not living within the City of Costa Mesa and, based on state law, has sacrificed his seat on the City Council. If true, then we have a former Deputy Sheriff – a man who swore to enforce the law – actually intentionally breaking the law. It will be interesting to watch this play out.
Sources tell TheLiberalOC the suit has several eye witness accounts of Mansoor living outside of city limits, evidence that others resided in apartments he was registered to vote from, and other declarative statements that will prove Mansoor should have been removed from office months ago.
One thing is clear; Mansoor should not count on the taxpayers of Costa Mesa to pick up the tab for his legal defense here.
This will be fun to watch.

As I recall you defended Lorri’s move from Anaheim Hills to downtown Anaheim by describing the interior of her new abode. Problem was, the location where she was “living” was not even zoned for residential occupancy.

It was a house. It had a kitchen, a living room and a nice yard with orange trees. Geez how could it not have been zoned for residential living.
The local Costa Mesa paper, the Daily Pilot, just posted a story on their web-site. In it, Mansoor’s statement is as follows: “Regardless of any temporary circumstance between my family’s move from one Costa Mesa residence to another, Costa Mesa has been mine and my wife’s home for most of our lives.”
To me, that sounds like an admission that he did not live in the city, but he thinks it’s OK, as long as it was only temporary. However, the cited statute (Cal. Gov. Code 36502) does not appear to make an exception for temporary moves out of the city.
Mansoor might actually be in trouble with this.
