Linda Ackerman, the wife of former State Senator Dick Ackerman who now runs a non-profit called “Irvine Cares” that does the bidding of big developers in town, is pondering a possible run for Irvine City Council in 2018 according to two sources — one Democrat and one Republican – who spoke to TheLiberalOC on the condition of anonymity.
We’re hearing Ackerman’s candidacy is being advocated by new Mayor Pro Tem Christina Shea who cannot bear to support Democrat Lauren Johnson over her own commissioner and failed council candidate Republican Anthony Kuo who is running again after finishing out of the money in 2016.
Ackerman, who ran a failed campaign to challenge then Supervisor Chris Norby for State assembly in 2009, has no real qualifications for office other than she is Dick Ackerman’s wife. But with the advocated of “Irvine Cares” on behalf of FivePoints, Mrs. Ackerman may displace Kuo on the FivePoint ticket as she is seen as far more compliant to voting on behalf of the developer. Our sources say Johnson, who is a city commissioner under council member Melissa Fox, is the FivePoint “designated Democrat” who will benefit from developer IEs but will vote for initiatives the developers wants while her candidacy or possible election creates an illusion of a bi-partisan but all-FivePoint city council.
Shea is reportedly urging Ackerman’s candidacy and Kuo’s because she cannot stand the notion of supporting a Democrat and if FivePoint stakes a claim to Johnson and Ackerman, Kuo is odd man out. It was revealed Kuo was dishonest in confirming he was convicted of a Hit and run as a young man when he was directly asked because the question suggested the arrest may have happened in Irvine when instead it happened in Newport Beach.
Meanwhile the pro-developer council majority approved two 15 story structures near the airport, approved a no-bid contract for FivePoint to install scorebards with advertising at sports fields at the Great Park, and the installation of Billboards along the 5 freeway in Irvine to help Mayor Don Wagner’s car dealer friends promote the latest used car deal. These elements completely change the character of Irvine, but are completely in line with the FivePoint takeover of the city.
Just one point of clarification, nobody is installing billboards along the 5 freeway. The electronic sign in question already exists.

Wrong. Norby was the 4th District County Supervisor. They were running against each other in a Special Election to replace Mike Duvall. And the year was 2009.

I have not spoken to Linda in over three years. I have not encouraged her to run in 2018. I think Lauren Johnson has a great chance at a seat for Council. I am a Republican so I can’t endorse a democrat. Your story is another fantasy in a line of many other fantasies, but it does come at a wonderous time of the year when fantasy is in the air. If Linda gives me a call and suggests she is running for City Council, and asks me my opinion, you’ll be one of the many, to be first to know.

Anthony Kuo was 17 at the time of this incident. He was never cited for a DUI, he wasn’t drinking and drinking wasn’t involved in this incident. He made a mistake, he was a scared
17 year old kid and rectified the damage to the car. If you don’t stop posting these false allegations and you don’t remove them from your site, I would assume it’s time some legal action will be forthcoming.
The post is corrected. I regret the error. It was still a lie when he denied the arrest. It happened in NPB, not Irvine. The lie was uttered by a man in his 30s denying he had been arrested.

I have reported what my sources have told me; you have disputed it. Good for you. Speak to your legal counsel. Make sure to ask them what a public official can do. Your track record of truth telling isn’t exactly the best….
My kids are 26 and 18; they know if they got in an accident to stick around for police or report damage they might have caused to the property owner. They know actions have consequences. Kuo is a public figure. I’d have to deliberately publish information with to intentionally damage his reputation. But he’s already demonstrated he isn’t truthful. I made an error in my story and corrected it (with apologies).

One final comment…the City never paid for my granddaughters babysitting..I have raised Jordyn since she was three years old and she is a lovely child. I paid for her oversight the nights I was at City Hall. I wanted her close to me, she did her homework, learned allot about civic issues the nights she needed to be there. I paid for her dinners as well. You are a troubled and weak man who has no clue or understands women who need to do all they can to support and raise their children, even an grandma, who struggles to do the right thing.
