Democrat Josh Lowenthal announced his candidacy for the 72nd Assembly seat. The 72nd District includes Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Midway City, Rossmoor, Sunset Beach, and Los Alamitos. In 2016, Hillary Clinton carried the district by 8 percentage points.
“I’m running for Assembly because our broken political system doesn’t need the same old answers from professional politicians. Our state needs innovative leadership with different perspectives,” said Josh Lowenthal. “As a successful business owner and entrepreneur with experience traveling to over 60 countries, launching startups, and creating jobs, I believe I have the experience and perspective we need to improve our communities and our state. “
Josh Lowenthal lives in Huntington Beach with his wife and three daughters. He is President of Free Conference Call, which operates the most recognized name in conference calling in the world, www.FreeConferenceCall.com. His company operates in over 60 countries, and is utilized by nearly 800,000 businesses, including many Fortune 500 companies. As President, Josh helped increase the revenues of the business tenfold.
Lowenthal will launch his campaign with over $200,000 in committed donations.
The 72nd district is a volatile one prone to upsets. In 2016, Clinton upset Trump in the district; Republican registration has slipped by over 5% since 2012; and in 2012 a political unknown upset the Republican party favorite in the race.
With nearly 25% of the registered voters unaffiliated with either major party and Republican registration advantages eroding by the day if not the hour, the 72nd is ripe for change.
Lowenthal’s campaign will be directed by SG&A Campaigns (Parke Skelton, Steve Barkan, and Mike Shimpock) with Genelle Buchert of Buchert Development directing fundraising.
