LAGUNA BEACH – Today, the Keirstead for Congress campaign announced it broke the single-quarter fundraising record for a Democrat running in CA-48 and out-raised the primary field two quarters in a row by raising $330,937.24 in quarter three of 2017.
“Along with breaking the fundraising record for Democrats in this district, Dr. Hans Keirstead has now out-raised the primary field every quarter he has been in the race,” said Keirstead for Congress Campaign Manager, Kyle Quinn-Quesada.
“Democrats and Republicans agree that Dr. Hans Keirstead is the Democratic primary frontrunner and the strongest candidate to take on Dana Rohrabacher in 2018,” stated Quinn-Quesada.
Dr. Keirstead’s fundraising announcement comes on the heels of the equally historic elections rating upgrade by Cook Political Report that moved CA-48 from “Lean Republican” to “Toss Up” based on Hans Keirstead’s candidacy.
Dr. Hans Keirstead: A husband, father, scientist and Orange County business leader, Dr. Hans Keirstead is one of the world’s leading innovators in stem cell research and medical treatments. Hans has led therapy breakthroughs for late-stage cancers, multiple sclerosis, ALS, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal cord injury, and retinal diseases. Hans has launched multiple successful medical research companies in Orange County and is currently CEO at AIVITA Biomedical, where he is focusing on developing a cancer treatment that is proving to be the most effective treatment for cancer that has ever reached the final phases of clinical trials.
CA-48: California’s 48th District has been represented by Dana Rohrabacher for three decades. Congressman Rohrabacher’s ties to suspected Russian intelligence officials have garnered national attention. Hillary Clinton carried the district in 2016. The district has recently been classified as a “Toss Up” by Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball.
Dana Rohrabacher’s former treasurer Jack Wu paid back $75,000 during the last quarter. If that didn’t happen, Hans Keirstead would have raised more than Dana Rohrabacher.
