When Kimberly Ellis made her pitch to the Democratic Party of Orange County, she told a story about her daughter’s not so very good high school basketball team and how she had a party for them to pump them up a bit and recognize the greater good about being a team that wins together and loses together.
It’s time for her to follow her own advice.
Eric Bauman’s election to California Democratic Party chair was upheld over the weekend. His lead shrunk by a few votes and both he and Ellis lost votes after an exhaustive audit of transparent votes for the May election of the new CDP chair. Ellis has indicated to the LA Times she will mount a court challenge to the last review. Here’s the story from today’s LA Times.
After spending weeks sifting through allegations of vote stuffing and corruption, a California Democratic Party panel on Saturday affirmed the election of Eric Bauman as the party leader.
The decision is not expected to bring the bitter fight over the election to an end.
Bay Area Democratic organizer Kimberly Ellis, who lost the race for party chair to Bauman by just 57 votes, earlier this week indicated she would likely mount a court challenge.
She has accused the party’s six-member compliance review commission of being biased in Bauman’s favor, and Ellis’ political consultant dismissed Saturday’s hearing as “bad political theater” before it even started.
Some of the state’s top Democratic Party leaders and activists worry that the internal feud may fracture the party, which dominates California politics, and hobble the state’s role in opposing the policies of President Trump and the Republican Congress.
Christine Pelosi of San Francisco, chair of the party’s Women’s Caucus and daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, said she has urged Bauman and Ellis to do everything they can to mend the rift.
At this point, Ellis’s challenge is just wasting time and money. She ran a great race and came up short. Bauman graciously offered her “a seat at the table” to help shape policy and, instead, she is acting like a hoopster who claims they were fouled on that last shot they missed to try and win the game, and the ref didn’t blow the whistle.
Of Course, this was going to be the only outcome. I am told (REMINDER TO “CRAZY GREG”, I AM NOT AN INSIDER, A POLITICAL NINJA OR ALLIGNED WITH ANY PARTICULAR PERSON IN THE PARTY. I AM JUST A DEMOCRAT):
Letters/Emails were sent out today to SERIOUS donors calling for Greg’s removal. Now these are the people that allow the DPOC to subsist, who elect the Hillary Clinton’s (Oh yeah thanks Greg and Berniecrats) to exist. When that money dries up so does real “PROGRESSIVE” politics.
Laguna and Newport are being blanketed in advance of the Executive Meeting, in an effort to influence members.
The EMAIL I received was VERY unflattering to Greg, think puppet show, unbuttoned shirt, defense of the indefensible and I can’t believe that Greg (hopefully) won’t be part of the GREEN PARTY in September.
CRAZY GREG’S Time may have come. If it doesn’t watch the fireworks DESTROY the progress of 20 years in Orange County.
