Moreno announces a Tait Anaheim District 3 Walk for Saturday

Dr. Jose Moreno, a candidate for Anaheim City Council District 3, has announced that Mayor Anaheim Tom Tait will join his team to walk neighborhoods in District 3 in Anaheim this Saturday.  Moreno and some other progressives are trying to brand Tait as a “social justice” mayor when his record, other than backing district elections and the symbolic flying of the gay pride flag at City Hall, doesn’t really reflect that.  So Moreno is aligning himself with the County’s most anti-public employee union elected — someone how has consistently voted against working families.

TheLiberalOC has heard from several sources Moreno may decide to run for chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County if he is unsuccessful in his election battle against incumbent Jordan Brandman.  While there’s no question, Moreno has advocates for him in the Party, how he’s going to square leading the County party will his affiliation with Tait is going to be an issue.  Moreno has been a Democrat sinice 2014 and endorsed Tait over the Party’s officially endorsed candidate for Anaheim Mayor that fall.  Party rules state a Central Committee member cannot endorse a Republican but there’s no rule against a Central Committee member accepting a Republican-elected’s endorsement — a loophole that should be closed in my opinion.

Tait faces a toothless, spineless and neutered Orange County GOP which hasn’t endorsed the only Republican in the race, Robert Nelson, so he is free to back Moreno.  And even if the OC GOP backed Nelson, Fred Whitaker is far too weak a leader to do anything about it.  In one respect, Tait’s support of Moreno shows the OC GOP’s weakness and why the margin between Reds and Blues in the county is less than 5%.

I’ll note Tait’s consistent record of “no” votes against several Anaheim’s public employee unions — which represent many middle class families in Anaheim — is a direct contradiction to Moreno’s mantra of putting people first.  If Moreno wins, he’s in for a lesson in how Tom Tait demands his way no matter what which may include votes decidedly anti-Democratic and anti-progressive.

Win or lose, Moreno needs to decide what’s more important — Tait’s support or being a leading Democrat in the party.  Pick one.

  1. Well, well, well.. Yet another backhanded attempt to undermine the DPOC endorsed candidate Dr. José F. Moreno in the race for Anaheim District 3. It’s a good thing you haven’t taken office yet as a Central Committee Member or this would be grounds for your removal! For the record, Mayor Tait has broken with his party in order to continue his opposition to the nearly 1 BILLION four year Brandman led corporate looting of the city coffers, an admirable and courageous move by Tait that speaks well of his principles and character . While most Democrats, including Dr. Moreno, would never support the mayor’s position on pensions or reproductive choice, Moreno and Tait have formed a political coalition which prioritizes an end to the brazen sale of political support in return for resort, developer and other corporate interests.
Perhaps your time would be better spent holding Jordan accountable for his vote to prevent District Elections in area 3, his failure to return the $25,000 he received for writing a largely plagiarized article while working for Tom Daly, his 2012 urging of fellow Democrats to vote for Republicans Eastman and Murray instead of the DPOC endorsed candidate Dr. Moreno, his endorsement by former Republican Speaker and Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, his endorsement by OC Tax, his use of funds raised while running for Congress for his Council run and yes ..let us not forget his recent $200,000 campaign contribution from Disney!

    • Jeff — Dr. Moreno endorsed Tait in 2014 against the party’s endorsed candidate. $1 billion…check your math. Disney and Developers are building hotels at their risk. TOT is ony collected when guests check out. in 1996, Tait lobbied to have INS agents in Anaheim City jails and has voted against every city public employee union contract. Those are facts. I’m unaware of any Pringle endorsement this election cycle. Please forward if you can. Grounds for removal? There are plenty of examples of your behavior that would warrant that as well. Look forward to not following your lead in 2017

    • Jeff, regarding the “grounds for removal” lecture, go back and read your brother-in-law’s rants against DPOC endorsed candidates and let me know when you’ll move to remove him from the Central Committee now. Otherwise, STFU you hypocrite.

      • Jeff, I checked the bylaws of DPOC. Your brother in law could be removed for his ardent support of a Josh Newman candidacy last Spring when Sukhee Kang has the DPOC pre-primary endorsement. Please add an agenda item to have Greg tossed from the Central Committee at the next meeting. If you don’t, holster those threats.

  3. I am biting my tounge about some “JUICY” Greg Diamond info until later, as I “am given to understand”, it can hurt some innocent people.
Does anyone who ever heard of “Crazy” Greg Diamond believe he would give up blogging voluntarily for a month or more? No. Greg messed up big time, bit the wrong apple as they say and like any bully, went in to hiding.
I expect him to pop up, around election time, talking about TRUMP and National politics, but I suspect, his burns will take some time to heal in local politics.

  4. I would say count me in, but I just saw Greg Diamonds post, begging for help moving this Saturday.

What a delima…Walk the district for Tom Tait OR Lift furniture for a Columbia graduate Lawyer, who can neither afford a UNION mover, or even pay a HOME DEPOT LOT LIZZARD (Day Laborer) for free.

This guy is a piece of work, listing his ENTIRE possession list, hoping for free movers. I remember when I was 24 with a brick and 2X4 bookcase. Thats the last time I asked people to help me move!

    • OC Dem. As you seem to think it is appropriate to call hard working day laborers “Home Depot Lot Lizzards,” ignoring the core Democratic Party principle that there is dignity in all legal work, I suggest you change your moniker to OCRep. Heavy sigh…

      • Jeff, aparently from your Ivory tower have lost touch with your sulpossed call to serve. “Lot Lizzard” was a self assigned term by the late Luis “Louie” Gutteriez (sp), the guy who help create the Brea Day Laborer pick up center off Lambert and Brea Blvd. Back in 1999.

They were run out of town in the past few years by the council and set up shop in the Home Depot lot at Lambert and Harbor in nearby La Habra. It was then that Louie and his crew self governed and nick named themselves “Lagartija”. The Lizzards. So STFU you fool.

And just for the record, many of these men, while hard working are NOT working in accordance with the law
They are without legal residency, thus “ILLEGAL”
        Not to rely on facts………

        • Nice try, but your reference to day laborers as lot lizards cannot be excused due to the prior inappropriate and disrespectful use of the phrase by Mr. Guittierez. So much racist and classist hate in your heart….heavy sigh….

          • It is the longtime policy of this blog to rarely edit comments. Typically, they are deleted in full or run in full. I will, if asked, fix a typo. I do not support calling a group of people by a derogatory name.

          • Jeff, just asking but how do you feel about Dr. Moreno benefitting from Howard Ahmanson funding IEs on his behalf? This guy is amazingly anti-choice, and anti-LGBTQ. Or is this one of those situations where you turn the other cheek and ignore Ahmanson’s history fighting against the rights of California’s Gay community?

  5. Maybe Tait and Associates bought a house or gave GD a down payment. I suspect he is moving from one rental to the next.
Who knows, maybe he needed a bigger “Kitchen Table” for his law practice.

What I DO KNOW is the ownership of Greg’s current rental is cloudy, protected by an obscure law. Many have long suspected that Diamond came to town as a hired gun from a specific leftist LA Baded group.

How really can one subside without working this long? Think back to his claim that he spent rent money on a ballot statement INSTEAD of rent.

I figure the “group” at hand took a pedigreed guy, one step away from homelessness or the rubber room, but still with his wits about him and set him up here.

    These FACTS are easily verifyable.

    • I was forwarded the screen grab of Greg’s Facebook post. He’s moving to another part of Brea and needs help moving heavy stuff. I think it’s too late for him to change his voter registration so if he votes, It’s under his address at the previous apartment. I’m not sure he can legally vote this election cycle. No clue if the new place is a house or an apartment but looks like another rental.

  6. So Dan, while I am hard pressed to figure out how my comment about you throwing Dr. Moreno under the bus turned into a multi-person diatribe against Greg, let me once again clear up a few things.
First: I am not now, nor have I ever been my Brother-In-Law’s keeper.
Second: Your continued denegration of those who are without means is a common tool of the other political party and is disgraceful behavior for an elected DPOC CC Member.
Third: Although it is not any of your damn business, Greg and his family are doing quite well and have moved into a beautiful four bedroom home in North Brea with a pool. Additionally, I find it quite creepy that you and your followers find it appropriate to fixate on my families residence, especially since it is occupied by a 15 yo girl and an 8 yo boy. Trump like I would say!
Fourth and finally: You need to set aside your white privilege and walk in the shoes of a struggling iimmigrant family to understand that it is admirable to do without and sacrifice in order to help those who are in need back home. Additionally although my sister-in-law has a fine arts degree from the oldest Catholic University in the Phillipines, she chooses to work with special needs adults as her vocation something to be admired not denigrated even though it doesn’t pay a huge salary.

    • I question good progressives who align with anti-union conservative Republican elected officials who think there is no quid pro quo. That’s not a diatribe. You suggested this post would be grounds for my removal while ignoring far worse posts by your own brother-in-law. If you’re making treats, be consistent.

My assumption Greg and his family are moving because they bought a house. It’s a nice four bedroom rental with a pool. Ducky. When you’re in your 50s, hire movers. Money well spent.

I don’t care where you live. It doesn’t concern me. As far as white privilege goes, I grew up in a working class family as one of five kids. No luxuries at all, but I sure learned the value of education and hard work. My parents sacrificed a lot and gave us what they could, but I know all about struggling.

No one brought up your sister in law. Good for her.

      • Dan is in the running to be the most white-privileged male in OC after Curt Pringle and his good pal, Matty Cunningham

        • At least part of my paychecks weren’t earned on the backs of sex trafficking victims like your was for years. Is it remotely possible to have a political discussion with you without race being a factor? Because when it comes to actual racism, you’re a storied practitioner

  7. Jeff,

Your Concuno is the product of his own making.

    Who brought up race once?

Your tired race-baiting, gay-baiting, sexism-baiting is meritless and really shows what you are about. Dig into something sometimes instead of using the same tired arguements you’ve been fed.

  8. So… I will note for the record your glowing article re Lynn Schott (who voted to repeal the Living Wage Ordinance) endorsing Melissa Fox and how that is an indication of her strength and viability while in the same breath writing an article saying that the Moreno/Tait alliance to stop the Brandman, Kring and Murray wholesale looting of the future of Anaheim for personal gain is an unholy alliance. You used to be so much better at hiding your hypocrisy. What happened???

    • its a scoop Jeff; its a story and pretty unheard of in Irvine. And it’s the press release in full with no editorial. You’ll have to do better than that to tag me. Meanwhile, I look forward to your resolution to kick your brother-in-law off the central committee at the next meeting as you have indicated there are grounds for it

    • Since it appears Greg has reading comprehension issues or willingly has ignored the central point of the comments here, Jeff Letourneau suggested my post that is critical of the DPOC’s endorsed District 3 candidate is somehow grounds for my removal from the Central Committee — something the DPOC hasn’t commented on.

I have suggested that anything I have written here is no worse than anything Greg has written about other DPOC-endorsed candidates and he’s already on the Central Committee.

If Jeff believes my post warrants my removal, then it would make sense for him to call for Greg’s removal as well using the same logic. Is that clear enough?

  9. Hey Troll! Yiu need help. Yiur self hate is causing all this lashing out at others. Your non-existant self esteem is so abissmal it leads you to denegrate others just so yiu can fell (falsley) superior to ithers. But the facts are thst A) you’re NOT A democrat and you are just simply a piece of white trash shit. Go kill yourself and do everyone a favor. Abd stop posting responses to yourself under my name Troll!

  10. I’m told Greg has some post up at OJ where he claims Tait isn’t anti-union; he’s anti-ripoff. I’ll get around to reading it all later.

I will ask Greg to go and check the records of Tait’s votes on every public employee union contract in Anaheim (spoiler: it’s “NO”); it also goes without saying the building trades are not Tait fans. And there’s this measure Tait lent his name to: https://theliberaloc.com/2013/10/16/tait-pulido-lend-their-names-to-anti-union-ballot-measure/

For voters in Anaheim who are middle class and union workers, the record is clear. The mayor and those he endorsed are not on your side.
