ANAHEIM – Anaheim City Council District 1 candidate Leonard Lahtinen announced today that he has been formally endorsed by State Assemblyman Tom Daly for his campaign for the City’s newly created Council seat in West Anaheim.
“As a 54-year city resident and homeowner in West Anaheim, and a 26-year elected member of the North Orange County Community College District Board, Leonard Lahtinen knows the community, its residents, and business community extremely well,” said Daly, who served as Anaheim’s Mayor for 10 years prior to his service as Orange County Clerk-Recorder. “He will bring knowledge of West Anaheim’s unique policy issues and a lifetime of public service to the community with him to the City Council.”
“I am excited and proud to have the endorsement of Tom Daly for my city council campaign effort,” said Lahtinen. “No one has done more for this city over the last three decades.”
Lahtinen, a 54-year resident of West Anaheim, is a retired high school teacher from the Anaheim Union High School District. Long active in the West Anaheim community, he presently serves as Vice Chair of the West Anaheim Neighborhood Council. He has also served as President of the Anaheim Secondary Teachers Association, as Vice Chair of the Magnolia School District Bond Oversight Committee, a Team Manager within the West Anaheim Little League, a member of the Board of Directors of the Anaheim Boys and Girls Club, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Anaheim Museum, and as Foreman Pro Tem for the Orange County Grand Jury.
